Three days later, using my days off from the bar as our time frame, Coop and I flew to the city where the judge lived and worked. Coop found it amusing when I told him why those two days. “Your job is that important to you?” “Think about it, Coop. If I took off whenever I wanted to, my boss would start questioning what was going on. Right? I’ve only worked there for a little over four months. When I’ve been there for a year, then maybe I’ll have more leeway without raising eyebrows.” I shrugged, then asked, “How do you explain being gone from whatever it is you do?” “I’m a self-employed website designer. I don’t have to report to anyone but myself. Well, and the people who hire me. But I set my own schedule, within the timeframe they need for me to come up with the finished product.” I
