Chapter 3 I called Reynolds around noon the next day. “I’ve made my decision,” I told him. “Come tell me in person.” Short and sweet, before he hung up. So I did. When he opened the door to his room at the motel, I smelled coffee. As soon as I was seated, he handed me a cup then took the other chair, looking at me in question. “I’m in,” I told him, “with the proviso that, if I find I can’t do the job, you let me walk.
