Like I suspected, Pierce knew all about our fake arrangement.
He paced the floor of the drawing room, papers gripped firmly in one hand while he spoke.
And like two naughty kids being chastised by their teacher, Heath and I listened to him go on about how much work our PDA needed. To him, our acting was horrible, our contact rare and minimal.
After the not-so-subtle interrogation from Pandora, Heath made significant efforts to solidify our fake relationship in the eyes of the public. His gestures around me grew warmer, our kisses longer.
Whatever novel-worthy union we shared was supposed to be the standard of perfection to the people. Quite honestly, it was still something I was yet to get used to.
