The next morning Richard met with Betty. After she signed the papers Richard gave her five hundred dollars as she asked. She did not waste any time leaving Willow Creek Falls. Betty left on the first stagecoach. Richard even bought her farm from her. He decided that he would run Howard off of it then he would sell it later. "Since the girls are legally his grandchildren they will not be needing that farm anymore.
