It had been one week since Raquelle had started school at Westwood high, one week since she had met Drake.
Raquelle would like believe that she and Drake had become friends. They had hung out every day at his house after school although that was because they were working on their project.
Raquelle had also come to the conclusion that she had a crush on him. She couldn't exactly blame herself though. He was undeniably gorgeous and there was something so mysterious about him. She tried to stalk him on social media but she realized he didn't have one.
She didn't find him creepy at all, a little weird maybe but then again, everyone was a little weird. She thought his eyes were the most beautiful things ever.
“So will that handsome boy be dropping you home again today?" Raquelle's mom asked in the car, pulling Raquelle out of her thoughts.
She was on her way to drop her off at school. Raquelle rolled her eyes at her mother.
“Yes mom. We're still working on our project and we'll probably be done today actually so until we're done, Drake will most likely be dropping me off at home", Raquelle answered. If she was being honest with herself, she was a little sad that they'd be finishing their project soon.
If she had her way, she'd delay it for as long as possible so she could spend more time with Drake but there was literally nothing she could do. All that was left was to put the finishing touches to the project.
Raquelle wished she could confidently say that she and Drake would still hang out after they were done but she didn't want to kid herself. At school, they only ever met to talk about the project and usually during the one class they had together. He was never mean or rude to her but he never went out of his way to be nice to her either.
At least she had other friends in the school so it wasn't like she was a complete loner. Diane and her friends had quickly absorbed her into their friend group. Although they didn't understand why she was able to stand Drake, they didn't question it... to much.
“Honey, are you okay? You're looking a little sad?" her mom asked?, her eyes darting from the road to her daughter's face.
Raquelle was quick to force her features into a smile but her mother was quick to see through it.
“I'm fine mom", Raquelle said, in a bid to appease her mom but the woman didn't buy it.
“Kelly, you do realize I can see right through that fake smile on your face right?", her mother asked, using her nickname for her.
“It's fine mom really. I just miss Flora and Fauna", she replied hoping that was believable enough for her mom to believe.
“Aww honey, I thought you said you were making friends here?"
“I am mom. That doesn't mean I don't miss my best friends but don't worry, I'll be fine".
“I know you will".
Just then, they pulled up in front of the school and her mom stopped so she could get down.
“Thank you mom. I love you", Raquelle said, getting out of the car.
“Love you too Raquelle. Have a great day at school".
“And have a great day at work. Bye".
After she waved her mother goodbye, she drove off and Raquelle began her walk into the school. She glanced around subconsciously to see if she'd see Drake's car.
She didn't want to admit to herself that it was weird that she already knew his usual parking spot. She was caught by surprise when she didn't find it in it's usual spot.
That was weird. Drake usually arrived to school before she did. She checked the time on her phone to see if she was unusually early but she was at school around the same time she usually was.
She decided to shrug it off and decided that he must have just been running late that day. She made her way to the building when someone called her name.
She turned and saw Mike. She smiled at him as he ran to catch up with her.
“Hey Mike", she greeted.
“What's up chica?" he said, giving her a one armed hug.
They walked into the school together catching up on their weekends. They had invited Raquelle to a party but with regret, she had to decline. Other than the fact that she had made earlier plans with Drake to work on their project Saturday morning, she also promised to help her mom finally finish their unpacking.
Mike was telling her all the epic fun she had missed at the party. They still had thirty minutes before their first class so they headed to the cafeteria to wait. They ran into Diane and Mia.
They all exchanged pleasantries and Raquelle noticed Mia blush when Mike hugged her. She knew she had only been with these guys for a week but she could already tell that Mia had a huge crush on Mike. She wondered if she'd be weird if she tried to set them up.
The four of them took a table and Raquelle made sure to sit beside Diane so Mia would get to sit beside Mike. While they were talking, she kept trying to see if she'd spot Drake but he didn't turn up and the first bell rang.
The four of them had to disperse to their separate classes. Raquelle had to content herself to the knowledge that she'd see him at lunch. She groaned inwardly. She really was a creep.
She went to her first class and forced thoughts of the silver eyed beau out of her mind. The rest of her classes passed by in a blur and soon it was lunch.
After ordering her food, she went to take a seat with her friends, trying to see if she'd be able to spot Drake at his usual table.
A frown formed on her face when she realized he wasn't there. She held on to the hope that he was just running late that day and he'd come in eventually.
“Okay Raquelle, I didn't want to say anything before but right now I feel like I should", David said, drawing her attention away from Drake's empty table.
“What are you talking about?" she asked, confused.
David smirked at her. “You've been staring at Drake's table ever since you walked into this cafeteria".
Raquelle's face turned a shade of pink at being found out while the others at the table tried hard to stifle their laughter.
“I don't think he's in school Raquelle", Mia said, an amused smile on her face. “We have algebra together and he didn't show up which is weird because he doesn't usually skip classes and if he's not here either then he's probably not at school".
“Oh", Raquelle replied, unable to stop her face from falling.
“Aww Raquelle. I didn't know his absence meant so much to you", Diane said and Raquelle gave a humorless chuckle.
“Oh no. It's just, we were supposed to finish work on our project today", she said.
“Uh-huh", Diane said, an eyebrow raised and a smirk on her face, “sure thing Raquelle. I don't judge, you know. Drake Hart may be a little weird but he's still stupid hot".
Mike and David rolled their eyes at that. “Don't worry Raquelle. He'll probably be in school tomorrow", David said, trying to comfort her.
Instead, it made her want to drop her face into her food in embarrassment. They all knew about her crush on Drake but at least they weren't making fun of her for it.
“Okay okay guys, enough about Raquelle, Ryan Daniels is throwing a party in two weeks and so far it's still a secret but I'm letting you guys know now so you can clear your calendars and attend", Mike said.
Alexa shot him a grateful smile murmuring her thanks to him for changing the subject and he winked at her in response.
“If the party is supposedly a secret, then how do you know about it?" Diane asked, sounding skeptical.
“His girlfriend is my neighbor. We're friends so she told me and asked me to keep it secret but I figured you guys won't say anything", Mike said.
“Well I'm definitely going. Ryan throws the best parties ever", David said, “Raquelle, you have to come too".
“Yeah yeah", the rest of them chorused.
“You have no excuse to not show up", Mia said.
“You know in advance so clear your schedule", Diane added.
“Alright alright guys, I'll be there", Raquelle answered.
The bell rang not too long after and they once again separated to go to their classes. The rest of the day moved quickly and soon it was her last class of the day.
Although, she had already accepted that Drake didn't come to school that day, a little part of her held out hope that he'd walk into the classroom. That hope was dashed when the end of school bell rang and he didn't walk in.
Trying hard not to sulk, she packed her things and decided to head home when she got a crazy idea. What if she decided to visit him at him at home?
From what she knew and had heard of Drake, he wasn't the type to skip school on a whim which meant he was probably sick and considering he didn't have any friends from school, nobody would go visit him.
Besides, they had agreed to finish their project that day. She couldn't exactly call or text him because she realized she didn't have his phone number. They never bothered to exchange it but now she realized they probably should have.
Making her decision, she left the school and headed to the bus stop. She boarded a bus and dropped her at the nearest bus stop to his house and she walked the rest of the way there.
It was clearly a neighborhood for rich people but she didn't mind the walk. It wasn't a congested neighbourhood and all the houses were well spaced. It was a beautiful day and something about being in the presence of nature, soothed and strengthened her.
When she got to his gate, the security guard having recognized her, let her in. She was welcomed by Jerry, the butler.
“Welcome Miss Myers", Jerry greeted.
“Thank you. Is Drake home? I didn't see him at school today and well I got a little worried", Raquelle said.
“He stepped out for a bit. He went for a run. Feel free to wait for him in his room, he'll be back soon", Jerry said.
“Okay. Thank you Jerry", Raquelle said and made her way up the stairs.
Jerry didn't need to show her the way. She had been to his room a couple times during her last visits. She went there and got comfortable on his couch.
She brought out her phone and began strolling through social media to pass the time. Twenty minutes later, Drake still hadn't shown up.
She got up and decided to stretch her legs. She didn't want to go through his stuff because she knew he wouldn't be comfortable with that.
She decided to content herself by going to his window. The window in Drake's room over looked the beautiful grounds of his mansion.
She was about to leave and go back to her seat when she saw something that almost made her eyes pop out of their sockets.
At first, she thought it was a giant dog but on closer observation, she saw that it was a wolf. It seemed to have come from some entrance behind the mansion.
She was freaking out. How did a wolf stray so close to civilization? It was a giant wolf at that. She was about to go alert Jerry about it when the craziest, most unbelievable s**t right in front of her very eyes.
She watched as the wolf shifted into a naked person and not just any person, Drake. She almost passed out at the sight. Her mind didn't even take the chance to comprehend that he stood there naked for a few seconds before he put on some shorts because it was too busy trying to grasp how the giant wolf turned into Drake.
A now clothed Drake, made his way into the mansion. She heard him have a conversation with Jerry then she heard footsteps on the steps and finally his door opened and he walked in, in his shirtless glory.
“Hey Raquelle, I wasn't expecting you", he said, a smile on his face. The smile dropped though when he saw the expression on her face.
“Raquelle", he called, “what's wrong?"
“You're..." she stumbled out, “you're a werewolf!!".
Drake's eyes widened.
