CHAPTER TWENTY ONE Outside the palace, Emeline struggled to help the troops make sense of everything that was happening. It would have helped if she had more of an idea herself. The palace seemed mostly quiet now, suggesting that the little resistance within was faltering, but part of the reason she was outside was that she didn’t want to take part in whatever violence was left there.
