Zarvos Airport, 10 AM.
Several black cars were parked in an orderly fashion, their very presence was a sight to behold for people passing by.
But the scene was even more impressive to know that from these cars, several leaders of important districts and groups of the city of Draynholt had come out.
Even Mayor Draynholt was standing by, watching the door of the plane with great anticipation.
The person they were waiting for must be important!
That was what the crowd that was gradually gathering at the site thought; more and more people wanted to see such an important figure.
“Hey, what's going on, I've never seen so many leaders, let alone the mayor?” asked someone in the crowd.
“What don't you know? General Karlex Arrex is returning to Draynholt today, the leaders and the mayor have come to greet him.”
“Wow, the Karlex Arrex is coming out of that plane?” The boy's reply had thrilled everyone present.
Karlex Arrex is the youngest general the city of Draynholt has ever had, but that doesn't mean he is to be looked down upon.
“Quite the contrary!”
Arrex is not even thirty years old and has already reached the rank of 4-star. He is said to be an exceptional talent.
“Wow, I'm getting excited already!”
Both the spectators and the welcoming crew were paying full attention to the passengers getting off the plane.
But time had passed and Mr. Arrex had not come down, the whole atmosphere of the place was getting dark.
“Hey, did we mistake him for someone else or was this not his flight?” asked someone from the welcome team.
The mayor looked at everyone with uncomfortable eyes. They really didn't want to show such a scene, the more they should stay.
In the distance, along with all the crowd, a man with a cold face and sharp eyes looked at the scene.
He was noticeably unhappy about it, but he just stood there watching.
Behind him was a tall, stocky man. He wore an angry expression as he hung up the phone.
“What a brawl we've been saddled with” Said the big man as he put his cell phone away.
“Did you find out who it was?” asked Adam, who was still looking at the scene coolly.
“!Yes sir, we found out, it was Miss Diana who leaked all the news!”
Despite the huge difference in size, the big man showed incredible respect for him.
Adam's lips curled up, he hadn't liked the joke at all.
“What do we do Sir? Shall we inform the media about all this?” asked Jason.
“No, I'm not in the mood to deal with people right now. If they want to wait, let them wait.”
“Understood sir!” Jason accepted the order with a big smile.
Adam was someone quiet, but when it came to Miss Diana, he couldn't stay in his right mind.
They both got into an ordinary jedd, and left the airport.
Half an hour later they were already in the city center. It had been ten years since Adam had seen those sights.
The city with old and worn touches had become a modern metropolis, the houses had left their classic and sophisticated art and had gone to something more minimalist.
But the look on Adam's face was anything but happy.
Not because he was picky and would prefer the old, in fact, he was glad that the economy had progressed.
But the more he looked at the city, the more bad memories came to him.
Some years ago, the border of Zarvos, which was thought to be impenetrable, was invaded.
But the Zarvos soldiers did not give up and fought relentlessly until victory was achieved.
Thinking that the moment of peace would give him a break, terrible news came to Adam.
His best friend, Lucas, was dead.
Lucas Smith, the second young master of the Smiths and Adam's best friend. In fact, if it wasn't for Lucas, Adam might not have been there watching the city.
He had taken several bullets protecting him, which led Lucas to retreat to his hometown.
“I still remember that night”, Adam muttered as he was overcome with memories.
The night before Lucas left for his hometown, he and Lucas had met up for a few drinks.
The two talked about fun and trivial things endlessly, until Lucas pulled out a picture.
“Hey there's someone I want to show you”, were the words Lucas said to show the picture to Adam.
In it was a happy girl hugging Lucas. They both looked good together.
Then, with a bright smile, Lucas explained to Adam that he planned to marry her.
“Adam, this woman has given me a new perspective. For her, I could give up everything.”
Lucas took a quick drink before continuing to speak. It seemed like the next thing he was going to say was hard for him.
“Adam, I don't want to hide it from you, the main reason I became a soldier was because of my grandmother. I wanted to earn her respect.”
Adam felt a little melancholy to see his friend like this, but decided to keep listening to her story.
“When I was a kid, my grandmother always looked down on me and treated me less. She said I was a wimp, unlike my brother.”
“Motivated by this, I decided to join the army in a hidden way. At first, it was difficult, but after a while all my hard work brought its fruits.”
Adam knew that Lucas' story of overcoming was no joke. He had heard that he had entered as one of the worst but, with an effort, he came out ahead.
“Happy and confident, I went to show him my grandmother everything I had accomplished on my own. I couldn't call myself weak anymore, I thought...”
Lucas took another stiff drink before continuing:
“But this one just slapped me, and asked me why I wasted my time. It was at that moment that I understood that in her eyes I would never be as good as Marcus.”
“Marcus was my older brother, or rather my older half-brother, although our fathers are the same, our mothers are different.”
“My mother came from humble roots. My grandmother found this disgusting, she couldn't allow something like that in the Smith family.”
Luke clenched his fists tightly, Adam wanted to say something to comfort him, but decided to wait for him to finish:
“But I don't hold a grudge. After all, they are my family. How about we keep drinking?” With a smile, Lucas placed his glass for Adam to toast with him.
Who knew that this would be the last time they would see each other?
Two weeks after Lucas left for his hometown, Adam received a letter inviting him to his wedding.
In the letter was a picture of the two of them together. They had thrown it to each other the day they went out to the countryside at Adam had taken a copy of it.
On the back of it were the words, “You have to go no matter what.”
So Adam was ready for the big day.
But just a few days after that letter, some bad news had reached Adam.
Lucas, his best friend, was dead.
Not believing what he had heard that day, Adam sent his people to investigate.
The information he had been given was that Lucas' eyes and teeth had been gouged out, and the cause of death was unknown.
But the strangest thing was that the woman who was to marry his friend was quite calm, she was even thinking of marrying Lucas' brother Marcus.
The Smith family did not hesitate to tarnish Lucas' death, saying that he was fascinated by his beautiful sister-in-law, but when he refused, he got drunk and had an accident, and angrily decided to end his life.
Everyone could fall for such lies, everyone except Adam.
A year and a half had passed since the death of his friend, and Adam still couldn't let him go.
How he had returned, this time he would make things right and avenge his best friend.
“Sir, we have arrived” Jason said as he parked the car.
“According to the information obtained, Marcus Smith is getting married in 10 days.”
“Oh I see” Hiding the anger on his face, Adam touched his necklace. On it was the last picture Lucas sent him.
“Then I should pay them a visit.”
With those words Adam got out of the car, behind him came Jason.
They were in front of Smith's house.
The Smith family was one of the 4 great families of Draynholt, their power was undisputed.
Few families could buy each other.
In ten days, Marcus Smith was getting married. It was normal for them to be busy.
As soon as they approached the door, they saw several workers placing ornaments and decorations of the highest quality.
Inside they could hear laughter. This annoyed Adam. His friend was only a year and a half dead, and they didn't care.
“Be careful with the lights. They are of the highest quality. Not working all your life, you will be able to afford them.”
They managed to hear the words of a man, he was guiding those who were placing the lights.
Adam and Jason ignored this and went straight to the villa, but were stopped by the butler. Apparently he had noticed their presence.
“Who are you and what are you doing here?” asked Richard the butler confidently.
Adam narrowed his eyes, he didn't have time to talk to a butler.
