Chapter 4: Imperial Night Dragon

"Alright, if the price is right, I think I can work with that." Along with his words, Edward stepped closer to Adam with a smile. "Hey, don’t take this personally, I’m just doing my job." Ready to finish things quickly, Edward clenched his fist and swung a punch at Adam. He decided to hold back his strength, restraining himself. After all, he didn’t want to reduce the boy to pieces with a single move. Adam watched the punch’s trajectory the entire time, his cold gaze unblinking. “Haha, that is what happens when you mess with the Smith family! You’ll just end up as another pile of trash!” Lady Susan didn’t hesitate to declare her victory loudly. She imagined with satisfaction that Adam West would be beaten to death in mere minutes. "Grandma, after Edward takes care of Adam, we can’t let the West family get away," Marcus muttered quietly. Adam had come for Lucas, and they had to eliminate him at the root—there might be connections the Smith family didn’t know about. "You handle it," Lady Susan replied. It didn’t seem that important to her. "If it weren’t for Lorenzo West’s foolish stubbornness, our shopping mall would already have been built. Since he refuses to cooperate, we can kill two birds with one stone." Marcus nodded with a grin. Anyone associated with Adam had to die. But their smug smiles faltered as they looked at the scene before them. The powerful punch Edward had thrown at Adam had stopped midair. It looked like a frozen strike! Adam hadn’t even moved—not a single step, not a single motion. It was a feeling only those with years of combat experience could recognize: Danger. Edward felt the imminent aura of danger emanating from Adam. His instincts screamed that landing the punch would not end well. "Who... who are you?" Edward opted to ask. The person before him seemed ordinary, but his eyes carried an overwhelming presence. "Mr. Edward, what’s happening?!" shouted Lady Susan, clearly upset. "That guy’s nothing more than a fly from the West family. There’s nothing special about him!" Susan continued, visibly disgusted. Edward said nothing, continuing to stare at Adam. Adam noticed and finally decided to speak, his calm expression unwavering: "It seems you know what you’re doing. Why are you working for this rotten family?" Edward frowned and replied, "It looks like you’re the same as me. How about you walk away? Fighting the Smiths is nothing but a written death sentence." Hearing this, Lady Susan grimaced in displeasure. "Mr. Edward, what are you doing?! Don’t let him escape. I’ll double the price to 30 million!" When Edward heard this, he couldn’t help but smile in delight. Adam observed him and sighed. He had thought Edward would be smarter, being someone so strong. "Jason, why don’t you handle this for me?" Adam had lost all interest in his opponent. "Understood, sir!" Jason, who had been holding back his anger, stepped forward. His very presence radiated incredible strength. "So, you think you’re good enough to fight my master? Ha! Don’t make me laugh." "Are you underestimating me?" Edward felt insulted, as though Jason was belittling him. He had completed every task the Smith family had ever given him. To question his status was outright disrespect. "You’ll get what’s coming to you." As before, Edward charged his full strength into his fist and launched it toward Jason’s chest. "One down," Lady Susan affirmed confidently. Edward always completed his jobs. But even though the punch landed, nothing changed. Jason hadn’t budged, nor did he show a shred of pain. "It seems the one underestimating someone here is you," Jason said mockingly. "Or is that all your strength amounts to?" "Fine, your body’s tough. What about your face?" Still confident, Edward jumped and aimed a kick at Jason. The result was the same. Lady Susan and Marcus were left speechless. No one had ever withstood a blow from Edward—let alone two. "He’s strong," Marcus muttered in shock, his frightened eyes meeting Adam’s calm gaze. Adam simply observed the scene without a word. "Alright, I let you have a bonus move. Now it’s my turn," Jason said, cracking his neck as he prepared to fight. Edward felt death’s cold embrace wrapping around his soul. He wanted to escape, but there was no turning back. Before he realized it, Jason had grabbed his arm. Like a lifeless doll, Edward was lifted into the air and slammed violently onto the ground. ¡Pam! Dust particles filled the room. Edward lay sprawled on the floor, unable to stand anytime soon. "Who... who the hell are you?" Edward managed to ask, mustering the strength to speak. Jason looked at him for a moment before answering, "I’m Jason." Edward’s eyes widened at the response, as if his mind had suddenly recalled something. "Are you... Jason Anderson, also known as the Imperial Dragon of the Night?" "Oh, so you’ve heard of me," Jason replied. Edward couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He was facing someone far beyond his ability to defeat. Although Jason had remained in the shadows, his name had echoed everywhere. He was the invincible first general under the command of the god of war, Karlex Arrex. Always fighting on the front lines, Jason had a reputation for annihilating his enemies, earning his prestigious title. Whenever he attacked, especially at night, he was a force no one could match. Edward felt fortunate to still be alive. "Wait a second..." As if his mind had connected the dots, Edward turned his head to meet Adam’s cold gaze. If this man was Jason Anderson, then the person beside him was... Edward began to sweat profusely as realization dawned on him. He had lost all will to fight. "I... I..." Lady Susan and Marcus grew nervous. They had never seen Edward in this state before. Lady Susan even bit her lips in frustration, drawing blood. Edward was her trump card—she knew what he was capable of. But she couldn’t stop herself from trembling when she saw what happened next. Edward had gotten up only to kneel before Adam’s feet!
