Chapter 7

Izzy’s POV A few days later we all return to Seattle to the Emerald Kingdom. I have only 4 days to prepare myself to receive Lycan King Douglas of Scotland, my first “gentleman caller” as my sister Amy is calling all of my potential mates. I want to immediately go shopping to have just the right look. Sexy, but young and innocent. Desirable, but demure. The sort of she wolf that a Lycan king or Prince will be proud to show off. I check my funds to see what I have to work with, but I’ve already spent a good sized chunk of my monthly allowance on that outfit for the Belgium Ball, as I had decided to call it. I better see what sort of ensemble I can pull from the existing clothes in my own closet before I run off to buy more. “Oh my goddess!” I say, looking at the state of my room, and my closet in particular. Either Jan or one of my nieces has probably been rummaging through my things and taken some of the best stuff! I’m going to murder someone! “Amy!” I cry, running to my sister who is busy unpacking from the trip. “Someone has ransacked my room and taken a bunch of my things!” “Oh, dear!” She says sadly, and follows me to see exactly what I’m talking about. Dee and Jules, my 13 year old twin nieces and 8 year old Magnus who were all chatting with their mother followed along just behind. “See! My unicorn pillow and the set of unicorn figurines are missing, as well as half my clothes!” I say, and begin to cry. Then I notice the shirt Magnus is wearing. I point at him and immediately accuse him of stealing my favorite Pokemon shirt! “But Jan said you’d found your mate, and wouldn’t want any of this ‘childish stuff’ anymore!” Magnus defends himself. I think about that for a minute. “Well, I guess you can keep that shirt. But I want the rest of my stuff back, you thieving little brat!” “This is the only thing I took besides your deck of Pokemon cards, anyway,” Magnus says, sticking his tongue out at me. Then he tattles on everyone else. “Beatrice took all your unicorn stuff. Dee and Jules took most of the clothes, and Chrissy took your blanket and your bedside lamp.” Jules hits her brother for tattling, and he shoves her away. Then they are full on fighting each other! I look on in disgust. Maybe choosing a mate and moving away from this crazy train might not be the worst idea ever. As long as I’m not expected to become a pup making machine right away. Right now I hate the annoying little monsters! “Enough!” Amy tells them, pulling her fighting pups apart. “All of you, return your Aunts things! You can’t just take someone else’s possessions without permission.” “Aww…,” Dee complains. “But we did have permission! Jan said we could!” “Jan!” Both I and Amy shout for our younger sister. “What?” Jan says a moment later as she enters our room. “Oh, it’s you.” “Why did you tell the pups they could take your sister’s things?” Amy ask Jan, who grows angry at the accusation. “Well, she’s been mated off now, hasn’t she?” Jan says in defense of her actions. “That’s what Alex told me. Izzy won’t want all this childish rubbish anymore, and I don’t want to have to haul it all away myself. So I said they could take what they want.” “Alex spoke prematurely,” Amy corrected her, and Jan’s face falls. “It’s going to be several months before Izzy chooses her mate. In the meantime, she probably wants her things back. And next time, have Leo or I give permission before we start handing out other people’s things, alright?” “Alright, the pups can keep anything with Pokemon or unicorns on it, but I need my lamp and my blanket, plus a few of the clothes,” I tell them. Magnus immediately runs off, happy with his ‘new’ treasures. I can understand Jan’s point of view. I don’t really want to sort through all my stuff, either. So I go to Dee and Jules room to look at what all they had stolen from me. I take back a couple of my sweaters, 3 tops, a cute dress, and 2 pairs of my best designer jeans. I tell them they can keep the rest. “Thanks Izzy!” Dee says, happy with the addition to her wardrobe. “You’re the best!” Jules tells me, and gives me a hug. “I can’t wait to meet my new uncle! That task complete, I go to Chrissy and Beatrice’s room to collect my ill begotten property. Chrissy, though, cries when I try to take back my lamp and the blanket, and Beatrice pouts over the unicorn pillow. When Amy sees their reaction, she promises to go buy me new ones this afternoon to replace these things that will be necessities for the next few months. “Thanks,” I tell her, glumly. “But take Jan with you to purchase whatever she wants. It’ll all be hers once I’m gone, anyway. She may as well have something she likes.” “Gosh, you’ve grown up so much recently!” Amy says, smiling tearfully at me. Then she gives me a hug. “You’re not a little pup anymore!” “Apparently not,” I reply. “It’s scary, really. I’ll be a mated Queen Luna, or have some other lofty title soon, along with all the responsibilities that go along with it. I don’t know if I’m really ready for all of that!” “You don’t have to choose anyone if you don’t want to,” Amy reminds me. “Or perhaps the mate you choose will be willing to wait until you turn 21 years old and had your first shift. If he truly loves you, he will want you to be happy and comfortable in your new role above all else.” “Yeah, I suppose that’s true,”I agree. “How else will I know who is the right one to choose for me?” “Mmm,” Amy replies. “It can be very difficult to know, as I can recall from my own experiences. If you spend enough time with them, I’m sure you’ll soon figure it out. I had my choice of 5 Alphas, but a few of them managed to weed themselves out satisfactorily on their own. One already had two girlfriends that he was mating with on the side. One was insane and Leo was forced to kill him. And one was treating the task of winning my heart as a competition to be won at all costs.” “Ultimately I chose Leo because he was the one Moon Goddess wanted me to be with,” Amy continues. “I came very close to choosing another. Unfortunately, that Alpha would not have been a suitable mate to a Princess, which I only discovered a few weeks before I had to make my choice. But once I chose Leo, I had no regrets. He’s the one I had loved the most.” “Well, I’m certainly glad to hear that!” Leo says as he waltzes into the room and gives his mate a passionate kiss. “I’d hate to have to go and kill Alpha Craig after all these years! I really kind of like the guy, myself!” I decide to quietly leave the room and shut the door at this point. I doubt I would have learned much more about how to choose my mate from among my four suitors, and way more than I wanted to know about the act of mating!
