Stephen’s bright face turned dull when he came out of the king’s room. His disagree was clearly seen on his face. It was more likely something went against his wish.
“I’m already frustrated because of the woman I slept with and now dad wanted me to get engaged.” he clambered and came down to the Royal Bar in his palace.
His eyes were tapered and arrogance was dripping from his expressions. He was a perfect example of brat who will go against his family, unlike his brother who is always ready to accept everything.
Philip was already waiting for him as if he knew that Stephen would come there at this hour. He knew his younger brother more than anyone else.
Philip has indifferent look on his face. Unlike Stephen who was aggressive in his own way. Stephen was never obedient to the king but today He seemed helpless in front of King due to health issues. The king has already ordered both of them to marry as per his wish. Obviously king would never ask for anyone’s intention, not even his princes.
“Why he is not acting like our dad? Why we need to get orders from king rather any ordinary family talk. He should care about our happiness just like he used to others.” Stephen said while clenching his fist. He was disappointed by the king's decision.
He was mentally not ready to marry anyone, even though the girl he was going to engage was one of her friends he still didn’t want to. For him sleeping with women and considering them a term of entertainment, that's the only way of enjoying life. He did not want to be bound to anyone.
“Because he is king first then our father. He is not really well. The physician told them they need to keep him under observation. A little worry could kill him.” Philip pressed his lips.
The difference between those two brothers was the elder one was more emotional than the younger one. Philip was understanding but Stephen was stubborn and not willing to kneel in front of anyone, Not even the king.
“Even if he is King, we are princes. He can't force anyone for marriage. I won’t agree him. I won’t marry Lilibet.” Stephen said with a severe tone and sat on a barstool. He picked the glass of beer in his hands and drink it in one breath. Philip widened his eyes to see what a good drinker his brother turned into.
“Keep calm for a while. Dad must be panicking as his health is deteriorating. He just wants to see us happy. What if his mood changes. He has not promised anyone.” Philip poured the beer in the glass. Stephen agreed with what Philip said. May be king would change his decision.
“I hope he understands what we want. I don't want to get settled for now.” Stephen pressed his lips.
Anastasia woke up in the morning and took a warm bath in her tiny bathroom. She wore a white shirt and jeans under it. Her face seemed so tired as if she has not slept well. The darkcirles gathered under her eyes.
She was hurrying up as she planned last night. Entire night, she spent in overthinking. She took several days leaves from her job so that she can rest for a bit.
In a short while, she headed towards the hospital with all the money she had. She also took the paper from the hospital she visited yesterday. She didn't want the news of her pregnancy should spread. She was afraid that even her landlady will kick her out of her rented house if she came to know about her pregnancy before marriage.
In the early morning, about ten when the winter chills were giving fresh vibes to everyone, Anastasia was walking towards the hospital with her tensed and pale complexion. The brown hair flings were coming to her eyes. Her lips started chapping due to dry air as she forget lip balm last night.
She was worried about the abortion as she only heard its name till now. Her colleague Bella had an abortion once she was working in the club. She heard it was the only way to get rid of an unwanted child.
She arrived at the hospital nearby her house. That was an ordinary maternity hospital she never visited, obviously why would she visit such a hospital at this early age. There was no any speciality in that hospital except from Gynaecologist.
She had not much problem regarding her periods. She never had any relationship, not any boy in her life. She never had s*x before that day. She didn’t even remember how that man did everything with her so she didn't visited any gynaecologist till now.
As she entered in the hospital, she saw few heavily pregnant woman walking in the corridor of the hospital. They must be at their due date and waiting for their child to come out. Anastasia glanced at that woman. There was a pain on their face but she can noticed some joy as well. The joy was unpredictable.
As she moved ahead, few cries of newborn babies, the smell of babies everything was new for her. at just the age of nineteen, she was experiencing extremely unknown things. Those women were starting her as she was quite small as compared to them.
“Where is the doctor? I had an appointment with her.” She asked at the counter. A lady adjusted her specs and peeked at Anastasia, who was still around her nineteen, young and beautiful skin.
“She is in operation theatre. What problem do you have?” it was oncologist department. Receptionist thought Anastasia must come have to resolve some period issue as she was still looking teenager.
“I want to abort my child.” Anastasia said with a hesitating tone. She was shy as she never imagined she had to mention this thing. The receptionist glanced at her from top to bottom with a curious gaze.
“Yeah, some teenagers do have s*x without any precaution and then run around in the hospital for abortion. What a new generation is doing.” The receptionist taunted her with a disgusting gaze and took a file of Anastasia. Anastasia just ignored her words as we ignore air.
“How many weeks going on? It’s better if you have not passed three months ” The receptionist asked her. Anastasia didn’t know that it’s illegal to abort a child beyond three months. But she thanked God that she came to know about it before it's too late.
“Eleven week.” Anastasia added. “Here are my test reports.” Anastasia handed in all the tests she had last evening.
The receptionist observed that there was a middle sign missing in those reports.
“Ohh…where is your partner? What is his name? Didn't he come with you? How can we abort this child without his consent?” The receptionist asked while looking around her and Anastasia turned pale on her question.
She didn't know that father’s consent was necessary to abort a child. But where would she find that person.
“Hello, where are you lost? What's the father name?” she asked again.
“He is no more.” Anastasia said without thinking.
“Ohh sorry.” receptionist felt bad. Her face turned full of grief after listening to that.
Anastasia wanted to tell her that she didn't know the name of her child’s father but when She remembered how much insult she has faced last night in that hotel. She didn’t want to embarrass herself again and again. It’s better to lie rather than making everyone think of her as a w***e.
“It’s better to assume that he is no more. Anyhow I have not remembered his face either. Better I pretend his that he is gone.”
She muttered herself and signed the papers.
Receptionist showed her the abortion sector where Anastasia came and sat on the waiting couch. Her mind was so troubled by the atmosphere that she picked a magazine kept bedside the table.
She was thrilled to see the process of abortion. How the injection was going to kill the baby in her stomach and how a pump like vaccine cleaner was used to take out that baby. Then that baby is thrown into the dustbin. It was frightening for her. She just got shivering by imagining all that.
Her mind was disturbed to see all those images. She felt exceptionally guilty in her mind. She has not seen her child but the imagination made her thinking about this abortion again and again. She slowly started getting attached to the child in her womb and felt so lost.
Now she came to know that it was not a single but she has twins. By the eleven weeks, her children had everything. A pair of eyes and ears, delicate nose. Visible body shape and Pair of limbs and the limbs were moving.
“See your babies are moving.” the doctor said with a smile on her face. She was glad that Anastasia was willing to keep her children and grow them just like any normal mother would do.
“Sleeping with that unknown man must be my mistake but I was about to go another biggest mistake. It was no a mistake but it was a sin,” she muttered herself.
The doctor prescribed her some medicines and gave some instructions regarding the pregnancy. Without having an abortion, she came back to her house.
