A Crying Eye

887 Words
Amanda crept down the stairs quietly with a baseball bat in her hand. After the call with her mother ended, she heard a loud creak downstairs.       "Hello?"she asked with fear lacing her voice"Vera?"she called out. 'Vera' was a secret word between her and her brother. Whenever they hear someone, they say 'Vera' to be sure if it is one of them. But this time, no one replied.      She held her breath in her throat, trying to think that maybe it's just Oliver messing with her. But if he ever wanted to leave his place, he would tell her to go and stay there. There was not at least a time neither Amanda nor him was at his house. They hid something important even without the guard's knowledge. It was Oliver's idea.      "Vera?"she asked, again. "Whoever it is, get out. I promise I won't call the police if you're a thief. I don't even have my phone with me "she lied.        As if it was planned, her phone started ringing in her pocket. Her legs stopped moving and her statue froze. 'Oh no, it's not the right time for you to ring!' She thought, feeling scared.      She got her phone out slowly and answered the call without looking at the ID.     "Hi?"she said before she heard heavy breathing. "Who is it?"she asked, fully knowing that it was the person hiding in her house.      No answer followed. Just the same slow loud sound of breathing. It sounded like a guy but who was it?     "If you're not going to answer, I will hung up the call" she stated firmly.      Again, no one said anything. But there was a slight change Amanda noticed. The breathing fastened and it seemed like someone was running. Before she had the  chance to hang up, the phone went flying out of her hand and down the stairs. She was pulled up by a stranger. She felt something dig into her neck, like a needle or something. After a few moments, her body went limp and darkness consumed her.    ****     Celia was walking down the streets, humming one of her favorite songs as she remembered him. The first guy to ever ask her out on a date. John.      She was grinning like crazy and recalling the little scene they had back in the hospital. As she walked by a big beautiful house, she heard a muffled "mhmm"She stopped in her tracks and walked inside the opened gates. She looked inside the windows, trying to see if there's anything suspicious.      'It's probably my imagination' she shrugged it off and turned around. As she touched the gates to close them, the same sound was heard but louder this time.      Celia always loved helping. She hated violence and would do anything to protect helpless people. She wanted to know if something was murdering or hurting somebody. What if they kidnapped them and brought them here? But maybe it's just a couple or a cat stuck near.      Celia turned her back and mind to the situation and continued her way to her house. Her thoughts were back to John as she was thinking of a nice outfit to wear for their date under her work costume. It was two days ago and she couldn't wait for that day to come. She was hoping he would ask her and it happened.      She released a long breath as she looked at the dark blue sky filled with stars. What an awesome night it was. She noticed the moon in the middle of the sky. Till now, no body knew why the moon looked different. It was smaller and the sides of it were red. Just like an eye that has been crying nonstop.      Celia smiled widely at it, she wanted to share her happiness with someone but who? She had no one. She looked around at the dark streets. She was used to walking in the night with no one to accompany her. Her work shifts sometimes stayed for the next day, so she had to stay in the hospital for the next night.      "AAAAAAAAGH"her feet stuck on the ground. She felt alarmed. She couldn't ignore her feeling anymore, she knew something was up. She jogged back to that same house and rushed to the door. Using her feet, she kicked the door open and entered in bravely. Nothing could scare her. Once, she saw one of the patients dying in front of her eyes after committing murder. The room was full of blood.      "Hello?"she shouted. After some moments, she saw a young woman in her twenties walk down the stairs calmly. She had long dark red hair. With her hoodie on, Celia couldn't really see her face.      Amanda shouted"What the heck are you doing in my house? Do you realize how expensive that door is"she pointed behind her as Celia rubbed her neck.      "I heard a scream, I figured something happened"She reasoned.      "Oh really?! Then you decided to break in the house, huh? It's probably one of the neighbors. Now, get out of my house before I call the cops" she shouted as she was shoving her out. Celia widened her eyes, raised her hands in surrender and walked out, knowing that there was something going on in that weird house. And she had to find out what it was.
