Amy was one of the first to use her crystal to return to her base, and knew that what happened next was going to determine a lot of things as she began reading through what exactly they had to do in order to get out of this hell hole that had been created.
She had just finished with her reading and discovered there were Boss Dungeons hidden inside some of the levels of play and all of them had to be defeated in order to end the simulation. However the team finishing all of them wasn't guaranteed to be the Master of Warfare when it was over, because that alone wasn't what they were looking for.
What surprised her the most as she went to look through the Squad Candidates, was a message she had received from the one friend she had made so far. Greystone was asking for a meeting, and that he had several friends who wanted to know the same thing. She decided to invite him to a party, and was surprised when there were a dozen people with him when she invited them to her base.
"Sorry Snips, but when we checked the leaderboards on our way to do something, we all agreed there was only one person we wanted to learn from." Greystone said sheepishly.
Amy was a little surprised, as all 12 of them were kind of bowing to her out of respect. "Sorry, but why would you want to learn from me?" she asked him.
"Because so far you are the best in the entire game, and it is well known you have no Guild. We aren't just asking for you to train us in how you do things, we are asking if we can join your troops." Greystone said as none of the others had said a word yet.
"You all feel this way?" she asked looking at them one by one to answer and was surprised when each of them said yes. "Well, if we are going to go that route, than I suggest we form a Guild as well. I will need each of you to send me a friend request, and I will have to review your scores so far to determine what we need to do. You lot may be in for some training before we even go on a mission." she said as each of them pulled up their systems and sent her a friend request. "Greystone, why don't you go to the Guild Hall and register and add all of us, while I review your skills and see where exactly everyone can be placed in my squads."
"Apologies ma'am, but are you sure it won't be an issue to take all of us?" one of the others asked her.
She smiled as she looked at him. "I was just about to begin recruiting 70 new team members for my own next mission, and begin this process anyway. With you 12, it reduces my number needed to 58. I however will not guarantee each of you a Command Post of even a single team. Those of you that have some of the skills you need may find yourself leading a fire team, or you may find yourself under the command of an NPC, and expected to follow the orders issued. Once you have learned the necessary skills and shown you are worthy of leading troops, you of course will be first in line for promotions, however it will all be merit based." she told them all as they all nodded in agreement.
"Yes ma'am, it will be like we have properly joined the military." Greystone said.
"Yes, it will be. Feel free to look around my base, and if you have any questions please ask." she said as a dozen files appeared on her desk.
"Captain Snips, none of us have selected professions yet. Are there any you would suggest over another, or are we free to do what we would like?" Private Danika asked her.
"It would probably be best to coordinate which of the primary professions each of you takes up. I myself have already taken up Gunsmithing, but have not selected another to go with it. First Aid, Cooking and the other secondary professions I would suggest each of us learns and progresses. A bandage used until a medic can arrive could be the difference between surviving on the battlefield, and perishing." Snips answered her as they all nodded once again.
"We will discuss the main professions and coordinate who does what. Thank you Captain." Greystone said before he ushered them all out of her office and she began working on their profiles to decide where she needed them as she made a chart of available slots, and just what she wanted of them. 8 would be promoted to Sergeant and given a fireteam, the other 4 just didn't have the skills or know how to lead, but she knew she could work with that before she went into the recruitment system and found 58 more to join them.
As soon as she finished with the Squad selections, she was notified she was being invited to a Guild created by Greystone which she accepted. What surprised her was right afterward she was made the Guild leader, and Greystone was now the second in command. She knew Guild Buildings would be expensive, and she was right when she pulled open the interface that displayed them. What pleased her though, was that because of all her kills, she had enough to purchase one of the larger keeps that could sleep 500, and would also allow them to build workshops for everyone that had need of the professions.
She set everything she had purchased and stored to be transported to the Guild Keep, and sent Greystone the message to meet her at the location before she used her Guild teleport to quickly arrive there. It took 15 minutes for the others to get there, and see the massive keep standing behind her.
"If you are thinking we can buy this already, you must be joking. I don't know about anyone else, but I only have a couple hundred credits left after getting the professions we decided each of us would get." Shadow said as he looked at it.
Amy smiled as she looked at them all. "I have already purchased it." she said pulling the cover off of the Crest that she had put there. "I have also already promoted everyone to junior or senior officer, so that you each can add people who are interested to the Guild. I also have each of your assignments, and you will be able to meet your squad mates here shortly. Most of you will have a fireteam assigned to you, a few of you will be joining those fire teams under the supervision of another of your guild mates." she said before she opened the gate and they all walked in together to see their new home for the first time.
They were all amazed when the first floor was split into equal sections for the different professions and even had conference areas where they could discuss the missions that they would embark on as a team. The basement was a fully fledged shooting range, as well as a few other training areas that could be utilized for different types of combat not reliant on the range a gun would provide.
As they made their way up the stairs, they realized that there were sleeping quarters for far more than just the few of them, as she had planned ahead for expanding the Guild. The top two floors were obviously meant for officers, and they all decided which room would be theirs before they found the two largest and everyone insisted that Snips and Greystone take them as the top 2 officers in the Guild. They had already contributed the most, as everyone else decided on what they would do with their time.
"Take the rest of the evening to do as you wish, because tomorrow morning we will be beginning training. We have already performed the same two missions, now we need to learn to work together. Therefore we will be doing Suceava on Hard Mode, so that we can get more experience, and learn how to operate as a team." she said before she herself went to the profession trainers and realized they had indeed covered absolutely every profession there was.
As this was the case she decided she would stick with her original plan of using her second slot as a munitions manufacturer, as she realized it was the one profession none of them had selected. She knew it wasn't an oversight, just the simple fact that there were that many professions in this game, that it had taken all of them to get what they had. They had even taken into account she was a gunsmith already, and none of them had duplicated it.
So with that done, she went to all of the profession trainers and purchased the expert level gear they would all eventually need, that also required a base to set up properly. She knew it would deplete most of her funds, and she was right as she got to the last one and had 5,000 credits left over once she had purchased it. It however was enough for her to learn all of the secondary skills before she returned to the Guild House.
As she walked through the city however, she realized that most of these goons were partying like they would actually die tomorrow, and shook her head in disgust as one of them came up to her and tried getting her to join them. Instead of taking no for an answer, she found herself kneeing him in the groin to make him let go of her as she drew her sidearm as his buddies came over to back him up.
"I don't want trouble, but if you insist, I am more than able to handle it." she said raising her pistol at them as she kept backing away as their buddy yelled in pain.
"He deserved what he got." the sober one said as they helped him up and dragged him off realizing that even on the first day she was in a Guild, and a Captain already to boot.
