“Stop it! You’re so annoying!” I told Ryder because he’s already getting on my nerves this early in the morning. This is what I hate the most when I stay in the packhouse. This as*hole just keeps talking nonstop like he would die if he shuts his mouth for a second.
I rolled my eyes as I saw Neil laughing while shaking his head. I can’t believe he can stomach being with Ryder for the whole day. He and Ambrose probably have the best patience because they could stand being with Ryder for more than an hour when I can’t even stay with him for a minute without rolling my eyes.
Ryder chuckled and shook his head as he looked at me. “Always so grumpy,” he told me. “Why? Did you get rejected last night?” he asked, pertaining to the guy I was with in the club last night.
Neil raised his brow. “Oh, did our resident playgirl get rejected?” I hate that even the quiet Neil gets worked up whenever he hears that I got rejected. It’s as if my misfortune is their entertainment.
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. I resumed eating the pancakes that the female wolves prepared.
Ryder hooted. “Oh! Seems like she did, bro!”
Neil chuckled. “Well it’s about time she gets rejected.”
I scoffed and looked at them in disbelief. “I can’t believe you’re my friends!” I cried foul over their comments.
I already know that these two live to wait for me get rejected. I’m just grateful that Ambrose is not like them. He’s more compassionate and he does not like it when I am feeling down. Although I’m not saying that he’s entirely a saint. He has his asshole moments, too.
Ryder shook his head and continued to eat while Neil is still laughing at me.
“I did not get rejected, okay?” I clarified. “He asked if I want to spend the night with him so I turned him down.”
I glared when I remembered that as*hole’s face when he asked me if I want to come with him to the hotel nearby. He’s not even handsome. I just liked him because he’s a good dancer and a good kisser. But that wasn’t enough for me to spend the night with him.
And now, this as*hole named Ryder Quinn thinks I got rejected? Excuse me? I have never been rejected in my whole life. He needs to stop thinking that I am on the same level as he is.
“Asshole,” Neil commented.
“I agree,” Ryder replied. “He’s not even half as handsome as I am.”
I rolled my eyes and shook my head. If there was one person who I believe is in love with himself, it’s probably Ryder. He thinks he’s the most handsome person alive. I can only sigh.
“Do you remember his face?” Neil asked Ryder and the latter nodded. “Let’s meet him tonight and teach him a lesson.”
Ryder nodded and stretched his arms. “Sure. I haven’t showcased my fighting skills for quite some time,” he replied. “Should we call on Ambrose?” he suggested.
Neil smirked as his stare darkened. “No worries. He’s already on the way down.”
And just as he said, Ambrose walked to the kitchen in a white T-shirt and a pair of gray sweatpants. His hair is disheveled like he just got up from the bed. He’s probably sulking because Caitlynn isn’t here. She left yesterday for a shoot for maternity clothes. Ambrose couldn’t tag along because of some business conflicts so he let Ceira go instead. After all, Ceira can protect Caitlynn without sweat. She can just burn anyone who comes their way and tries to impose a threat on the Luna.
“What a lovesick wolf,” Ryder commented which only gained him a death glare from the Alpha. He shut his useless mouth and just ate. He probably realized that he shouldn’t try to mess with Ambrose when he’s worried about his wife.
“When are they coming back?” I asked Ambrose who pulled a chair to sit on.
He let out a deep sigh. “Ceira said Caitlynn still has a photoshoot today,” he replied nonchalantly while putting food on his plate. “I just hope they come home today.” I can hear from his voice that he’s already missing his wife.
Ryder snorted. Ambrose turned to him and he just raised both of his hands in surrender. “I’m sorry. I still can’t get used to you being this…clingy.” He was careful to say the last word. He must have realized that he could run fifty laps up and down the hill if he gets on the bad side of Ambrose today. Nobody wants to mess up with an Alpha longing for his Luna.
Neil was just quietly eating and I imitated him. I should not mess with Ambrose right now.
“Anyway, what were you talking about before I came in?” Ambrose asked.
Neil looked at me. “We want to teach someone a lesson.”
Ambrose looked up, brows furrowed and interested in the topic. “Who?”
Ryder smirked. “There’s this guy who wanted to bring Dion home last night in the club,” he replied. “We just wanted to prove a point. You up for it?”
Ambrose looked at me. “Is that true?” he asked and I can already hear anger in his voice.
I turned to Neil and Ryder with a glare.
Why do they have to tell Ambrose about it? He has been the most protective of me since we were kids. When I grew up and decided to study college in the city as his father, the late Alpha Andreus, advised, he comes to my dorm weekly to check on me. And when I rented an apartment after landing a job on the clothing company, he made me a list of the emergency phone numbers to call when I’m in danger. He didn’t even think of the possibility that I can just shift and kill the attacker before they can even do something to me.
“Call Pyro. I can’t come tonight because Caitlynn might come home,” Ambrose ordered. “If possible, bring him here so I could personally teach him a lesson.”
My eyes widened because he sounded so serious. “Wait, why are you acting like a gang?” I was already panicking. I know these guys. They don’t go against their words. If they say they’re going to teach someone a lesson, they really will.
The three of them looked at me with their brows raised.
“That’s not even a big deal!” I added because I’m afraid of what they could do to the poor human. I can only imagine him paralyzed and crying for help when they are done with him.
“What is it?”
We all stopped talking when Pyro suddenly appeared. I looked his way and saw him staring at me with narrowed eyes.
Ambrose cleared his throat. “Go with Ryder and Darneil tonight and go teach that as*hole who tried to bed Dionessa a lesson.” He sounded so stern and authoritative that I was the one worrying about the fate of the man, who I can’t even remember his name.
Pyro narrowed his eyes and tilted his head to the side. “Someone did that to you?” he asked me in a serious voice.
I swallowed hard before looking away. “Ryder is just exaggerating,” I said before glaring at Ryder who looked unfazed. “It’s not like I can’t handle a weak human.”
Ambrose narrowed his eyes at me. Neil shifted on his seat. They all looked at me in disbelief. Pyro gave me a look as if telling me, “Is that so?”
I rolled my eyes and continued eating even though I have already lost my appetite. Ryder didn’t stop though. He kept narrating what happened last night. Even Pyro, who already ate his breakfast, joined us and looked like he’s too invested in the guy from the club.
I sighed, already regretting that I came home to the packhouse. I should have gone home to my apartment downtown.
Pyro turned to me like he wants to tell me something but Wynona, his mate came in with Aira, her best friend, so his attention went to her.
“I was looking for you,” Wynona told him with her annoyingly sweet voice while she automatically wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
Ryder chuckled while Ambrose looked at me. I don’t know if it’s his Alpha instinct but I think he knows that I like Pyro.
I rolled my eyes and put my utensils down before standing up. They all looked at me. “I’m done,” I announced.
Aira smiled at me. She’s a lot nicer than Wynona. Maybe because she already got her warning from Ambrose when she tried to hurt Caitlynn.
Wynona just raised her brow. We’re not really friends. I’m not really friends with any of the girls here because they are all ambitious.
Pyro pursed his lips but I shrugged. “I have a meeting at lunch. I need to go back to my place,” I continued.
“Are you coming back here? Caitlynn could come home tonight,” Ambrose said.
Caitlynn and Ceira are my only friends. They’re different. They don’t have that air in them and they are simple. Among the three of us, I am the troublemaker.
“I need to attend this meeting,” I told Ambrose. “I’ll see if I can drop by tonight.” I turned to Ryder and pointed my index finger at him. “Don’t bother the man I was with last night, alright? I already ended everything so stop looking for him.” I warned.
Ryder shrugged. “I’ll see,” he replied before looking at Neil who just shook his head.
I rolled my eyes. Pyro was looking at me while Wynona’s arms are still wrapped around his body. I scoffed and shook my head as I started walking away when I heard Wynona talk.
“She should look for her mate, though. She’s not getting any younger and she needs to stop playing around with different men.”
I stopped on my tracks as I heard the harsh sound of the utensils against the plate. With clenched fists, turned to give her a sardonic grin. “Really? Why don’t you take that advice for yourself?” I made sure she could hear sarcasm in my voice.
Her smile immediately turned into a scowl after hearing what I had to tell her. “What?” she asked in gritted teeth.
I smiled widely to piss her off even more before shrugging. “Nothing, Wyn,” I replied in an annoyingly enthusiastic tone. Did she think I would allow her to talk about me like that? I am a wolf. I have fangs, too. She should put that in mind.
These girls are used to Caitlynn’s kindness. They think they could say just anything and be ignored. But I’m different from her. No one could speak ill of me or of my friends and get away with it easily.
Ambrose cleared his throat, making Wynona sit down and hide behind Pyro. There. She thinks she can talk like that because she’s associated with the Beta. What a deluded puppy.
“Take care,” Ambrose told me. “I’ll call you if Caitlynn and Ceira come home tonight.”
I smiled and nodded. “Sure,” I replied before turning to Wynona again. I smirked and shook my head. I walked into the living room. “See you around, Aira,” I told Aira when I walked past her and she just smiled at me.
