Chapter 16 Extinction
Arastor left Darkm to his grief. As he walked through the Pek village, the darkness of the underground seemed more hollow, colder than it had been, only hours ago.
Arastor found Rain where he had left her, in the same position. Moving was something the woman avoided.
Arastor plopped down next to his friend, “Looks like the village is wiped out.”
“Darkm?”
“He’s with family. I would guess they were his parents.”
“Were?”
Arastor shook his head.
Rain took a deep breath, wincing at the pain, “Signs of who did this?”
“Dewar, by the look of the weapons. I’ll know more after I check around. I’ll look for the Chief, maybe get something to help heal you.”
Rain smiled, her busted lip bleeding as she did, “Be careful. I can’t keep coming to your rescue.”
