Chapter 10 Dark is the Heart Misnia sat at the rune stones for more than three days. The rocks had not spoken a word. The Black Priest did not understand what the stones’ silence indicated, if it meant anything at all. Still, the priest had an overwhelming feeling that something was going wrong with her plans and those of Thokuhm. Misnia was about to leave. She had spent long enough without Thokuhm’s warm bed and a solid meal. She stared at the two guards with her for a moment, “I’ve had enough. Take me back to Thokuhm.” Both guards stiffened; their eyes rolled back in their heads; then they collapsed to the floor. Undek stepped out into the light of the chamber. “Was that necessary?” asked Misnia. “I cannot afford to be seen with you alone.” “Yes, but did you have to kill them?”
