"Oh hey Bill, I thought he was sending Fred over." I tell Bill as he leads us into the club. Even in the evening, this place is always filled to the brim with hormonal teenagers. Like they have nothing else to do with their lives.
"well he sent me. Is that a big deal?" he says, looking directly at Lucy. Lucy, all of a sudden feeling intimidated, looks away and starts to fiddle with her phone.
I glare at Bill and he laughs a bit. Draping one arm over Lucy's shoulders, he continues to talk. Bill, I must say, is very handsome. He doesn't have abs nor dimples, nobody is that perfect all the time. But he has the sweetest smile and the deepest voice I've ever heard.
He's pretty tall for a nineteen year old but he has the build to support his height, not too manly but enough to make him look hot. One time when I first joined the club, he'd told me he liked me and wanted us to be an item.
Of course I'd denied his offer even though I had a crush on him back then. He was so mad back then and didn't talk to me for a long while until they knew the reason I can't date anybody.
"Why do you seem so scared?" Bill asks Lucy and withdraws his arm. She opens her mouth to give him an answer but I beat her to it.
"Our operation yesterday failed. We got f*****g caught and now she won't stop panicking over what Eric would do to us." I tell him with a dramatic eye roll.
He looks at Lucy and halts in his steps. "You're afraid of Eric, why?" he raises one eyebrow but he doesn't let her answer before adding, "Trust me. He's just like the rest of us, the worst he can do is complain non stop. He's not some person to be afraid of." he assures her.
"Okay." She says with a low defeated smile. We resume walking and her phone stops us in our tracks again. Her ringtone, 'Ciara-Level up' fills quarter of the already loud room and she lifts the phone up to her gaze.
"Sorry." She mumbles a quick apology. She furrows her eyebrows at the caller id, "It's an unknown number." She hesitates a bit and I nod. She answers it and puts it up to her ear.
"Lucy Miller's phone." She says into the phone. I roll my eyes at her officialty. If it were me, I'd say something more like, 'your dead grandma is on the line.'
I watch as her face goes pale and I nudge her shoulder a bit implying that she puts it on speakerphone. She obliges and hurriedly puts it on speaker phone.
"...So I called t..the number...scribbled on the diary so you can have it." The thick voice, obviously belonging to a guy, says.
"Er... Yes it's mine. It must have dropped without my notice." She answers him and looks at me for help. Without thinking, she puts the phone on hold.
she grabs me at arm's length and shakes me, "Janice, what do I do?! It's Troy, it's Troy!" she says in a whimper filled voice. "He has my diary. What if he reads it?"
"You aren't one of those stupid people who write things in a diary,as in, every single thing, are you?" I raise one brow at her and slap her hands off of me. She ignores me and buries her face into her palms.
"Girl." Bill calls in a sweet voice and turns her to face him. He pulls her in for a warm hug and whispers in her ear, "It's okay. Just play cool, get your diary back and pretend like it all never happened."
She nods and pulls free from the hug. She connects back to the phone call, "Um... Maybe school tomorrow?" She suggests.
Troy doesn't answer from the other end of the phone and we're left with the dial tone.
"He must have hung up because you put him on hold." Bill says and we resume walking to meet Fred and Eric. She doesn't say anything and I can tell that she's mentally panicking.
"Don't worry. He's in my Economics class. I'll talk him s**t, he'll give me your diary. And so what if he knows you're the Lucy from last night? Shut doesn't matter." I tell her with a smile and she nods.
I spot Eric and Fred, both laughing deeply at something, on a table. Fred has a girl massaging him from behind. I scrunch my face in disgust as the stupid girl. She's wearing a bra top and a mid thigh, skin tight, shiny black skirt.
"Hey sons!" I call to them, announcing our presence. Without wasting any time, I scooch close to Eric and Lucy sits beside me. Bill takes the next seat to Lucy and we begin talking.
"You are here." Eric says with a smile and winks at Lucy. She instantly disconnects their gazes and concentrates on the floor.
He chuckles and says with a smirk, "It's funny how easily intimidated you can be."
"So," he says, now looking at me. "Where's yesterday's deal?" he asks with a smirk.
Lucy and I stare at quick glance and I save her the stress of having to reply him. "Um, about that." I chuckle nervously. "We got nothing."
Eric draws his eyebrows in confusion and looks between Lucy and I. "What's that supposed to mean?" he frowns.
"Well, we kinda got caught yesterday. Lucy accidentally touch the door to the mansion without letting me deactivate the security systems first." I tell him with a shrug.
"You what?!" he bangs his hands on the table, "Why did you f**k did you let yourselves get caught!"
"What do you mean why did we get ourselves caught? Why would we want to he caught on purpose?" I say in an equal harsh tone, raising my voice a bit.
"Lucy." he calls her in a sharp tone. She flinches and fixes her gaze on him.
"Tell me everything that happened." he crosses one foot over the other and demands in a cold voice. Lucy suddenly starts to fiddle with her phone and her hands start to shake a little.
"Well I... We, well...Um, we got caught so...some man started chasing after us. We didn't know what to do and Janice tricked him into losing us. He started the security alarms and we ran up the stairs to hide. " She pauses and looks at me and her eyes
go wide when she notices my glower.
And?" Eric frowns.
"And, we ran into an open room. Troy came up and he helped us hide. And then we escaped the mansion without any items." She concludes, rushing her words.
"Who's Troy?" Eric glares, directing the question at me. I give him an equal cold stare and grind my teeth.
