Peter was tempted to ask what had happened, but refrained, fearing Rossi would interpret his interest as final acceptance of his offer. Before he could answer, the door to the office opened, and he joined Carl Rossi in standing. “Katy, come in.” Her father’s voice radiated affection. Peter caught his breath as a young woman walked in carrying a lilac-scented breeze with her. When her doe-like brown eyes caught his, a tingling began in his heart and spread like wildfire to the rest of his anatomy. The color of her soft hair matched her eyes.
