Kate’s heart pounded as Peter led her out of Will’s room and closed the door. They had just finished reading to Will and tucking him in. As soon as he’d closed the door, he turned and encircled Kate with his arms, holding her against him. “I was hoping you were ready now,” he whispered. “I swear I’m not trying to push.” She closed her eyes, trembling. “I know.
