Chapter 10Fred sipped on his coffee and enjoyed life. They drove down a beautiful road framed by tall beech trees glowing light green in the sun. Now and then, they’d pass a cute little farm or homestead. The world woke as they drove and a sense of rightness settled in his chest. He wouldn’t mind if the road trip went on forever. Being with Zen was easy; freeing. “f**k!” Fred jumped at Zen’s outburst. A deer jumped over the road and into the forest at the side. He started grinning, but Zen was pumping his foot, frantically shifting down. “Hang on.” He steered them to the side, but the road was narrow and there wasn’t any shoulder to speak of.
