5 The Gun Game

1594 Words
A week later, Carlos arrived at West Point to continue his studies.   A barbed-wire fence and a protective wall were set up outside the training ground. Sentries with guns were patrolled day and night and were heavily guarded. West Point has not only students who are military geniuses but also many excellent military officers.   However, Carlos could come and go as he pleased. Everyone knew that he was the son of the famous Chief Wilson. Since the assassination of Chief Wilson in Afghanistan, everyone's respect for him has turned into an indulgence for Carlos. As long as Carlos did not do anything excessive, everyone went along with him.   Carlos drove straight into the school and parked in front of the office of Chief Eden, a well-known instructor at West Point. He is a role model for many soldiers. He received the military's highest honor, but he's modest and insisted on coming to West Point to train young soldiers.   Well, Eden is also the husband of Carlos' sister.   Eden's office at West Point was nothing special, even a bit shabby. Carlos walked into the office and sat on the couch, waiting for Eden to arrive.   Carlos's eyes were closed, and his long eyelashes fell low over his eyelids as if he had fallen asleep.   There was a sound of footsteps outside the room.   Carlos opened his eyes and immediately stood up.   A soldier's voice came from outside the door. "Sir!"   The door was opened, and in walked an officer. Eden looked gentle, but his eyes were firm. He paused in the doorway for a moment, and his eyes fell on Carlos. He gave a smile, "You're back."   Eden took off his jacket while caring for Carlos. As the years passed, Eden never changed, and he always treated Carlos like a member of his family.   Carlos has a lot of respect for soldiers like Eden who have gone to war. He said, "Eden, my sister Leyla came back from the hospital last week. I see she's recovering well. I know you were in training last week and shouldn't have left school, so I didn't tell you. I don't know what happened between you two, but I don't like the state you are in. I made a decision on my own and I made a reservation at the restaurant tonight. Let's have dinner together, the three of us."   Eden's hands paused for a moment as he took off his hat, then continued his movement. He turned and smiled, "Okay. You arranged it well."   Carlos said, "I'll see you tonight, then. I'll find an excuse to get my sister to show up at the restaurant on time."   Carlos snapped his fingers and pulled out two movie tickets. "By the way, after dinner, you guys can go to a movie. I've heard that going to the movies is a popular way to promote relationships. A lot of women like to watch movies with men."   Eden was silent for a moment. "I can't believe you even thought of that. How can I express my gratitude?"   Carlos waved his hand and smiled. "You don't have to thank me. As long as you and my sister can love each other as before, I'll be satisfied. Or maybe......."   Carlos paused for a moment.   "If only you would let me join the Special Forces."   "No!"    "Your mother called me specifically about this not long ago. I am not in a position to disobey her orders. Besides, I don't approve of your participation in the war."   Eden sounded resolute.   Carlos asked :"Honestly, is the situation in the Caribbean getting worse?"   Eden said: "Even if things do get worse, soldiers like me will be the one to take the responsibility. You mind your own business, and that is to finish your study. Besides, your mother said you are getting married soon."   Marriage again, Carlos showed his anger. However, he then showed an expression of genuine concern then shrugged.   "Okay, I'm not going to talk about this right now. I'll leave now, don't be late tonight."   Eden smiled, "I know."   The Next Day   Carlos, who had disappeared for a long time, reappeared in the student dormitory at West Point.   Carlos' roommate saw Carlos' gloomy face and knew he was obviously in a bad mood. He hovered in front of the dormitory for a moment, then forced himself to walk up to Carlos. "Dear Carlos, during the time you were away, the students obeyed your orders and no one did anything excessive."   Carlos gave a careless mph.   The roommate thought for a moment and then said, "There was just one little thing. Kevin has secretly replaced all of Jack's applications for financial aid. You know, Jack is a poor student, and Kevin's father is a financial tycoon, so no one dared to report this."   "He had no financial resources, so he dropped out of school."   A terrible silence fell in the dorm room. The roommates didn't dare to speak. All along, Carlos was the boss among the students, and his words were the rules for everyone's actions. Although Carlos sometimes had a violent temper, he came from a military family, so he had the conviction and character of a soldier and never bullied the weak. Therefore, the school principal also acquiesced to Carlos' behavior.   Carlos took out his phone and dialed a number.   Not long after, a smiling Kevin appeared in Carlos' dorm room. "Oh, dear Carlos, you're back. You're looking more and more like an army officer after a few days' absences."   Carlos ignored his flattery. "I heard you used some little trick to get Jack to lose his bursary and then he had to drop out?"   Kevin glanced back down the hallway and immediately closed the door to his dorm room. He padded over to Carlos' side, displaying intimacy. "I hate him. He talk like a log, but his test scores are ahead of mine. He's just a poor student; he won't be a good officer even if he graduates. I merely helped him realize the reality."   Carlos glared at Kevin.   Kevin realized Carlos' unhappiness. He went on, "Of course, my behavior was wrong too. I shouldn't have made such a decision when you were not at school. Please believe that I will ask you in advance before acting in the future."   Carlos nodded his head as he picked up the phone again. "Well, it's just a matter of withdrawing a poor student from school, but now everyone is saying you're bullying people by virtue of your power. I'll call the disciplinary office now and see who's talking about you behind your back."   Kevin hurried to stop Carlos. "Forget it. I'm a generous man, so I won't look into this."   Carlos stared at him, smiling but not saying anything.   After a moment of silence, Kevin suddenly bent down and whispered, "I propose a solution. I'll give you half of the embezzled scholarship. How about that? If you don't like cash, I can also exchange it for gold and sneak it to your house."   The smile on Carlos' face suddenly disappeared. "What the f**k? What kind of person do you think I am? Is that all I'm worth?"   Kevin froze. "Okay, okay. All of it, all of it. How's that?"   Carlos leaned back in his chair, his feet up on the tabletop, and didn't say a word.   Kevin wiped his sweat. "Jack is just a poor student. I don't understand why you're so angry?"   Carlos gave a sudden laugh. He picked up an apple from the table and placed it on Kevin's head. "This apple looks a lot like your face today."   Kevin was suddenly shocked and stood still, afraid to move. "Carlos, what do you want?"   Carlos backed up to the door and raised his gun, aiming at the apple on Kevin's head. "Don't worry. I just want to know if my marksmanship has regressed in the time I've been away from school."   Kevin yelled, "What the f**k? Are you kidding me?"   "You better not move, or I can't guarantee where the bullets will fly."   Carlos had just finished speaking when an ear-splitting, sharp gunshot sound came to mind. The whole dormitory building heard it.   The bullet hit the apple accurately, but Kevin was already too scared to move.   Carlos picked up another apple. "Stand up and let's continue."   Kevin slumped to the ground and hugged Carlos' leg, "I was wrong. I'll go to the principal and turn myself in right away. I'll give the grant back to Jack."   Carlos wiped his gun. "Then?"   "I ...... I double Jack's compensation and will never do anything to hurt him again."   Carlos put the gun to Kevin's head. "Remember, the military is a place to raise soldiers, not villains. As a student at West Point, you don't care about the military or war, and you use despicable schemes against a student with military genius. If everyone was like you, West Point would be a joke. You mark my words. If you dare to exercise such despicable tactics again, I will kill you immediately."   Kevin was left with tears of fear. "I know, I'll never do anything like that again."   The gunshots alerted the instructors on patrol, who came to Carlos' dorm room. "What just happened? Why was there gunfire?"   Carlos laughed. "I was just having a discussion with Kevin about the history of guns and accidentally pulled the trigger."   The instructor looked at Carlos, shook his head, and left. Not just at West Point, but throughout New York State, every soldier knew one rule: don't mess with Carlos.
