Chapter 5: The Fox's Tail

"Young Master, you have to believe me. You can't listen to this trash slandering me!" Beads of sweat as large as soybeans were already streaming down his cheeks. The more he behaved like this, the more it showed his guilty conscience. With a wave of Simon's large hand, two men beside him immediately tore off his clothes. Tied to his leg was indeed the missing piece from Bethany's clothing. At this moment, everything had become crystal clear. "Mr. Harris, please spare me. I know I was wrong..." With a thud, the lackey directly knelt on the ground. "I was impulsive and did those things..." "I beg you to give me another chance..." Regret? This lackey was practically drowning in regret! Last night, after his good deed was interrupted, he was unwilling to give up. So, he sneaked back to spy and happened to see Dilan carrying Bethany into the cave. Simon had always wanted to deal with Dilan, and he wasn't sure if Dilan had seen his face clearly. He wanted to take this opportunity to have Simon kill Dilan and silence him for good. Moreover, what could happen between a man and a woman alone in a cave? He didn't believe Dilan had no thoughts at all! But he never expected that Dilan really didn't touch Bethany! Nor did he expect that the piece torn from Bethany's clothes was still tied to his leg! And he never thought that Dilan, the universally acknowledged trash, would have the guts to say these things publicly. Simon’s temper was well known to him. This time, he was truly finished. Simon would never let him go! If he had another chance, he would never have gone back to spy! "By the way." As the master of the final blow, Dilan certainly wouldn't forget to add another jab at Simon at this moment. "Your lackey said yesterday that he couldn't stand you for a long time." "But he couldn't get to you, so he had to target your sister." "What did he say again?" "Right, this is your retribution!" "Anyway, I've told you everything I know. How you decide is up to you." Dilan looked at Simon with a smile, feeling extremely satisfied inside. "Take him away!" Simon's face had turned completely black, devoid of any expression. Being played by his own lackey! Couldn't stand him? Retribution? Simon never expected that after bringing so many people here to demand an explanation, it would end like this. Not only was he kicked by Dilan, but he was also betrayed by his own lackey. This time, Simon had lost face, really lost big time! "I don't want to see this person ever again!" Simon said viciously. "Spare me, Young Master..." Almost at the moment Simon's words fell, the lackey's heart turned to ashes. He didn't even have a chance to struggle before being dragged away by the other two men. Soon, the two lackeys had returned to Simon's side. As for what happened to the lackey just now, everyone already had an answer in their hearts. Having lost face like this, how could Simon possibly let him go? Dilan's mouth twitched. A life, just gone like that. Simon was not just ruthless anymore. Simon's actions also served as a warning to others. Around them, the survivors had all frozen their expressions. They were also worried that Simon might turn on them next! "Since the truth is out now, there's no need for Mr. Harris to stay here any longer, is there?" Dilan's eyes were fixed on Simon. "You should go back to where you came from." Go back to where he came from? Simon's eyes narrowed as well. All along, it was always him giving others the order to leave. Dilan was completely different from when they were on the ship. Now it seemed, he had really underestimated Dilan before! "Don't be in such a hurry." Simon sneered, "Next, it's time for us to talk about serious business." "Serious business?" The surrounding people were stunned. Wasn't the matter just now serious? "The supplies you collected from the shipwreck, shouldn't you return them to me?" "The ship was mine to begin with. Now that it's sunk, the things that washed ashore should be returned to their rightful owner." This was Simon's real purpose for coming here! Simon couldn't have reached his current position as the first heir of the Harris family by being an uneducated rich second generation. After being rescued by his men, Simon quickly calmed down and started collecting supplies. These were the key to surviving this disaster. But Simon found that almost all the useful things had been cleaned out. At that moment, one of his men informed him that Dilan had collected everything. Although Simon wasn't sure what exactly was in there, he couldn't let his things fall into the hands of a trash like Dilan. Simon had his own plans. With those supplies, he could control the survivors on the island! So, even without the matter of his sister, Dilan was still Simon's target! "Return to the rightful owner?" Dilan sneered. As expected, the fox's tail had finally been revealed. From the beginning, this was Simon's real goal! "Robbery is robbery. Why dress it up so nicely?" Dilan scoffed. "I can give you the supplies, but may I ask, what do you plan to do with them after I give them to you, Mr. Harris?" "After all, the survivors on our island all need those supplies to stay alive!" Dilan understood that since Simon had come with such a large force, it was impossible to keep the supplies for himself. Moreover, Dilan never had that intention. But to give them to Simon so easily? Impossible! "Of course, they will be in my hands, and the survivors on the island will receive them according to their contributions!" Simon gritted his teeth. He couldn't believe that Dilan was still trying to dig a pit for him at this moment. "Since it's all about distribution according to contribution, what's the difference if they are in my hands?" Dilan said coldly, "I think Mr. Harris just wants to use these supplies to blackmail us!" "So, you're unwilling to hand them over!" Simon was running out of patience. "Then I'll have to take back what's rightfully mine myself!" They had so many people now, and Dilan was alone. He didn't believe that he couldn't get the supplies from Dilan! "You asked for this!" With a wave of Simon's hand, two lackeys instantly charged forward. Simon seemed to have already seen the scene of Dilan kneeling and begging for mercy. However, the situation Simon wanted to see didn't happen. Before Simon's two lackeys could get close to Dilan, a huge figure suddenly appeared out of nowhere. With a "boom," one of the lackeys was sent flying with a punch. The other lackey was grabbed by the neck and thrown in front of Simon. Dealing with these two was just a one-handed job for him. His other hand was still wrapped in a simple bandage. The whole process was so fast that even Dilan didn't have time to react! "Xavier, are you crazy!" Before Simon could roar, another person had already walked up to Xavier. "Simon, you really have some nerve." "Relying on your numbers, you’ve started outright robbery?" "Trey?" Simon's eyes narrowed, and he suddenly felt a lot more pressure. "So, you're standing on this trash's side?" "Have you considered the consequences?" "Consequences?" Trey sneered, "I only know that this little brother saved us, and we can't repay kindness with ingratitude!" "Besides, others may fear the Harris family, but our Hughes family does not!" "If you really want to mess with our Hughes family, be prepared for mutual destruction." "If you want to touch him, get through me first." Trey had watched Dilan collecting supplies yesterday and knew their importance. He also knew Simon's character. If those supplies fell into Simon's hands, the cost to use them would be enormous! Dilan was utterly confused! Last night, he had just seen a few people still floating at sea and fished them up because they were alive. As for Xavier, Dilan had only stopped his bleeding, not knowing their background at all. Now Dilan understood why Ashley had asked him to get food for these people. It turned out that any one of them had a status they couldn't compare to. "So, you're not going to let me take back my things either?" Simon’s mouth twitched. Dealing with Trey was something he wasn't confident about. Especially with Xavier beside Trey. Simon's lackeys wouldn't stand a chance against Xavier! "I never thought a trash like you would find a backer!" Simon glared at Dilan coldly, "But trash is trash, only capable of hiding behind others like a coward!" "Since we're all in trouble now, those supplies should belong to all of us!" Dilan said loudly, "As you said, distribution according to contribution is our way to survive!" "Why not let them choose who to support?" Dilan looked at the survivors on the beach. This was the only way now. He had Trey and Xavier with him, but he couldn't always hide behind them. "Who are you to make decisions here!" As soon as Simon's voice fell, Trey stepped forward, "I think Dilan's idea is good. Let everyone choose for themselves. What, Mr. Harris, are you scared?" "Fine!" Simon sneered, "But let me remind you." Simon pointed at Dilan. "If you choose him, think about your consequences when you return!" "Return?" Dilan also sneered, "If we can't survive here, what does it matter what happens when we return?" Dilan's words woke many people up. Some who were about to choose Simon stopped in their tracks. Choosing Simon now meant not worrying about the Harris family's anger later. But if they couldn't survive to return, what was the point? "I'll join!" A thin man named Rhett was the first to declare. Everyone had witnessed Simon's ruthlessness. Some even had grudges against Simon. If the supplies went to him, they might not get any. On the other hand, Trey had chosen Dilan, and they were willing to take a chance. Dilan remained silent throughout the process. Some who had been saved by Dilan or eaten his grilled fish chose Simon's side. Dilan understood this was human nature. They feared Simon's retaliation. "Now, what more do you have to say?" The result was out. Dilan's supporters outnumbered Simon's. Simon's face turned dark. He hadn't expected this outcome at all. "Ashley, I'll give you one last chance." Simon finally focused on Ashley, "If you come over now, I’ll forget everything that happened before!" "What you promised me last night still stands!" If Ashley agreed now, it wouldn't matter how many people supported Dilan! "If you keep following this trash, think about your Sidney family's fate!" "Simon, you’re shameless..." "Slap!" Before Ashley could finish, her mother Estelle appeared in front of her. With a "slap," Ashley's fair, tender cheek bore five bright red finger marks. Everyone's mouths dropped open, and the scene fell into silence. Estelle's face was full of disappointment.
