Ch. 8: Making New Friends, and Enemies (Pt. 2)

(Alex’s POV) “I don’t see what the problem is, Lexi-poo. You act like I was about to run down your d*mn Grandmother or something.” She said lightheartedly, as though this were some big joke to her, then had the gall to roll her eyes at me at the end. “THAT’S IT! GET THE F**K OUT OF MY CAR! NOW!!” I shouted in my Alpha voice, making her cringe and her eyes fill with tears as she involuntarily got out and stood at the door looking at me all pathetic-like. If she was looking for sympathy, she wouldn’t get it from me. “Bu.. but.. I won’t have a ride home, then. And you promised to take me shopping at the mall this morning! Come on, baby. Don’t be like this!” Oh.. My.. Goddess! She did NOT just say that! She really thought I was going to take her shopping, let her spend my money. THAT was her priority? Even after she just put countless lives in harm's way, almost wrecked my baby, and showed absolutely no remorse for either f**kin thing? How the h*ll is she even Uncle John’s kid? Him and Jake were always so calm and level-headed. Sure, their mother, Annabel, was a bit flacky at times. But she wasn’t typically a b***h. She was just the type of Mom that thought her kids were perfect little angels. But Allison? She was psychotic! “You know what? I’m f**king done! We’re over, Allison! This was the last godd*mn straw. I’ve been wanting to f**king end things with you anyway, so there’s no reason to drag things out any further. Now get the h*ll away from my car.” I said as I stormed around to the driver’s side and got back into the car. To say Allison was shocked by what I’d just said would be the understatement of a lifetime. She was also absolutely livid. Good. Now she knows how I feel right now. “Is this because of that wh*re whose name you were calling out earlier? What was it? Amelia? Amanda?” She asked me in an accusatory tone. I just frowned. I’d actually forgotten about that. Though there was no way in h*ll I was telling her April’s name. “What the f**k, Alli!? Did you not hear what I just said? I’ve been wanting to break it off for weeks now! This has nothing to do with anyone but YOU! You're an insensitive, selfish, lying, backstabbing, B*TCH! You wear so much f**king perfume on the daily that even legit wh*res laugh and point when you walk by. You wear so much makeup' if there was such a thing as a mime-sl*t you’d be their freakin' queen! And you dress like you shop at SL*TS R' US then get dressed in the f**king dark every d*mn morning. Your only goal apparently being to grab whatever feels like it has the lowest f**king thread count cause yah sure as h*ll aint going for a matched set! H*ll, I see more of your skanky p***y when you’re dressed than I do in bed! You’re rude, crude, loud, and obnoxious. You have absolutely no manners AT ALL. You think you’re better than everyone else. And you’re completely and totally IN-F**KIN-SANE!! All you ever think about is yourself. I’m f**kin sick of it, and I’m sick.. of .. you!” I ranted, making her begin to sob. I did feel bad then, but I’d been holding this all in for a while now, and she had pushed my last buttons this morning. I only felt worse when I heard snickers and turned to see some of the guys standing not too far away. “Brent!” I shouted and he came jogging over to quietly say “Yes, Alpha?” “Will you and the guys please see Allison home? I’m goin' for a drive to cool off!” I asked in a remorseful tone, giving Allison an apologetic look before turning my ignition and starting to pull away. I looked in the rearview mirror just as Brent reluctantly put his arm around Allison’s shoulders and started to guide her to his car. Four hours later… I was sitting in my room thinking about today’s events as I waited for Dad’s mind-link letting me know it was time to go. After my drive, I came back and sat with Allison to talk everything over. I started out with a sincere apology for how I went off on her. Everything I said was true but that didn’t give me the right to say it. Nor should I have done so publicly. I did truly feel bad about that part. Unfortunately, however, she took my apology as us getting back together, which kicked off a whole new round of discussions. By the end, it had taken me two whole hours to get it through to her that we were through as a couple, that there was no one else yet, and that she needed to move on. Thankfully, my little brother came home from his trip to our Grandparents' in Crescent Moon Pack. Mom’s parents were actually thinking about moving over here now that Grandad has retired from his post as head Gemma there. Not that Crescent Moon was really that far away, but they missed us all and wanted to be closer. I could respect that. Crescent Moon was a small pack but they had a large territory. Not as large as ours, but a decent size. From our packhouse to their packhouse the drive is about twenty-five minutes, give or take a few. If you go by paws, then it’s actually only a ten to fifteen minute run, less if you are running full out. Anyway, Ken coming home when he did gave me an excuse to end the discussion, which had turned to her practically begging me "not to do this". She even had the nerve to threaten to “make me pay” for doing this to her. I’m pretty sure you can imagine the severe eye that got. Now we were just waiting for Ken to shower and change so we could get going. I was also glad we were going as a family because I wanted to see April today and I knew psycho b*tch would be watching us leave. So going somewhere as a family would make her think there was no hanky-panky going on. I guess I’m just going to have to keep an eye on Allison for a while. (April’s POV) I was watching Mom put the donuts on a platter for when everyone got here. I'd already started a pot of coffee and my Dad was now standing there staring at it waiting for it to get done. I couldn’t help but giggle at the two of them. They looked so serious. As I sat there watching them, I thought back to this morning at the mart. I'd gone into the store and when I came out those guys who’d bumped into me were helping that blonde-haired girl who was with Alex into a car and she was crying really badly. He, however, was gone. I hate to admit it, but I was a little worried about him. I had thought a few times about checking on him but, unfortunately, we hadn’t exchanged digits yesterday and I didn’t want to call Uncle Wyatt and have to explain why I was concerned about Alex. After all, that was Alex’s business and I’m no gossip. I’m sure if it were anything too bad Dad would know and have said something or they would have called and canceled for today. When I finally heard the shutting of car doors, I perked up. “They’re here!” I said without thinking, and started for the door. Mom straightened and started hastily putting the empty boxes away while Dad’s eyes followed me. He seemed a bit confused until the doorbell rang out. Of course, I was the closest one to the door at that point, so I got to answer it. I flung the door open and shouted “Uncle Teddy! You’re here!” as I jumped into his arms for a big bear hug, making him chuckle. “I am indeed.” He said, still chuckling as I withdrew, then I gave Alex a fist bump as I said “Sup Muscles?” He laughed and so did Uncle Wyatt, though I actually think Alex liked the nickname. At least the lingering smile on his handsome face made me think so. Right behind them was the prettiest lady I think I’ve ever seen. She had dark brown hair, light brown eyes, and she was built like a supermodel. Next to her was a guy who was maybe a year or two younger than me. He had dark brown hair and eyes, was built like Uncle Wyatt and Alex, and a charming smile. Though he only had one dimple. He was cute, but not drop dead gorgeous like his brother. As I was letting them in, my parents came up behind me and Uncle Wyatt made the introductions. “April? This is my wife, Lilly, and our other son, Kendrick.” I just smiled at them and nodded. I moved out of the way so they could all come inside and once they did, the two moms hugged happily. Then Lilly turned to me and hugged me too. As I hugged her back, I heard Kendrick asking Alex “Uncle Teddy? What the f**k did I miss yesterday?” and I laughed. My little laugh drew the fellas' attention and they looked at me like I was crazy for a second. I had a feeling I’d just done something unusual, so I just looked back at them all innocently just as I heard Kendrick saying “Dude? You didn’t tell me she was so pretty!” The only thing is, his lips never moved! That’s it! I’m officially crazy! I was mentally freaking out when I heard my inner psycho b*tch start laughing. You’re not crazy. How many times do I have to tell you? You’re special, not crazy. I wasn’t even about to acknowledge her while I was having my latest psychotic breakdown. I just pushed her out of my mind and excused myself to the bathroom to try and calm down. The key word being ‘try’. It took me about twenty minutes to calm myself down and when I came back out I found that the adults were in the kitchen and the fellas were in the living room on my xBox. Seriously? Is NOTHING sacred around here? “What are you guys doing?” I asked as I sat next to Kendrick on the love seat. Alex didn’t seem to like that, so he switched seats with his brother, saying “I love him but he’s a little perv, so watch out for him.” I just laughed. Kendrick, however, threw a pillow at his brother, which Alex caught with ease. Before Alex could respond, I stood up and said “Hey, let’s go outside and get some fresh air, okay?” Then walked to the door without further discussion. The guys looked at each other as though I’d just asked them to commit a felony. But after a minute, they put down their controllers and both of them followed me outside. We sat on the porch chairs and started to just goof off a little. We were laughing and telling jokes. I was telling them all about Philly and they were telling me all about sleepy Wolf County. It really didn’t seem like such a bad place. There was apparently more to this little town than I realized, too. The fellas told me all about the giant shopping center on the other side of town and how the other teens around our age liked to hang out there and goof around. They also said that they lived in a rural area about ten minutes away from here. I was curious about where they lived but didn’t want to ask too many questions. About fifteen minutes had gone by when a car drove past and I watched it go about three houses down and pull into the driveway, then back out and head back this way. It stopped at our curb and the driver parked, then the occupants started to get out. I recognized them as the guys from the mart earlier and got up to walk toward them as I called out “are you f**kin stalking me?” My tone was NOT a good one. I was actually a bit p*ssed. The driver, Conner, threw both hands up in the universal sign of surrender and quickly said “What? No! We were on our way to the mall and saw our friends standing on the porch. So we stopped to say hey.” When Conner said “our friends”, his eyes went to Alex and Ken, who chuckled before Alex asked “You know these meatheads?” and the guys all nodded even though I was saying “No. We met this morning at the mart down the road. The one you were at with your girlfriend.” (Alex’s POV) Oh sh*t! Oh sh*t! Oh sh*t! Oh sh*t!! April saw me with Allison this morning! Could this day get any worse? How the f**k do I explain this without coming off like a complete and total j*rk? I was in a full-on panic for a solid minute until I realized April seemed chill about it. I wasn’t sure whether to be grateful or annoyed. At this moment, I think, grateful. At least she isn’t the kind of girl to stick her nose into another’s personal business. Just let it go, man. She’ll ask if she wants to know. Max told me, and he was right. I was really glad he wasn’t all antsy anymore. We typically got along really well, so yesterday was unusual and I didn’t like being at odds with him. Thanks, buddy. You’re right. If she’s chill, I should be too. I responded and he went quiet again though I could sense him watching. I listened as April said “Well, if you’re friends of Alex’s I’m sure my parents won’t mind if I invite you in. We’re still unpacking, so try not to mind the mess.” “No worries”, Brent said as we all started up the walk and into the house. The guys seemed curious about April. I could see them giving each other these little side glances. I could also sense some nervousness from them. One thing I didn’t like was the fact that both Brent and Austin were checking her out. I caught Brent looking at her a** as we walked and let out a low growl. Where the f**k that came from, I did’t know but it shocked even me. What was worse was that it caught April’s attention and she gave me this odd look like she was trying to figure me out. Not that I could blame her. Right at the moment I was trying to figure me out too. For the rest of the day, we all played video games together. April was impressively good. I almost had to kick Austin’s a** when he got down on both knees, clasped his hands together like he was begging, and pleaded “Marry me? We’ll make beautiful babies together who’ll grow up and take over the gaming world! It will be glorious!” all because she'd kicked all of our a**es in COD for the fifth time. She just laughed and said “Where’s my ring, you dork! I ain't even discussing it without a ring. And it better have a huge motherf**kin diamond, too.” She giggled. I could tell she was happy, though. The way she laughed was all it took for me to know. And I was happy for her. She had made four new friends today. So, in the end, all I could do was smile.
