Chapter 8

Theo’s POV “They are still looking for her. The good news? They don’t know that it was you who helped her that night. I must say…you shocked Dimitri. One of them is dead.” Dimitri’s assistant Kim came to see me. And, I take on the Champaign recalling how I have sent a service to help her take the bath. It was as if I was infected by her. Her thoughts don’t leave me for a single second. “I would need three of your men. One of them will remain her driver…the moment she decides to start getting out.” He nodded before adding. “Of course, it can be arranged. But…if you want the assistance twenty-four-seven for another three men it will cost…” I tilted my head to make him stop. I could get he was new. “When those men will be arranged?” I asked and he replied in an instant. “By this evening? But…I can tell from the experience that keeping her hidden is not a viable solution.” I smirked a little wondering how perfect this situation was. Of course, she was meant to be hidden. And, if she was to hide what perfect place could be for her than my arms. I bit my mouth recalling how she was careful talking to me. I got home and she was nowhere to be seen. She mostly remains in her room. Though I wanted her to be interested in me. But she wasn’t the kind of woman who would take the advantage of the situation and try to trap me. I try my best to not approach her but it wasn’t my strength. I wanted her to feel at home. And, whenever she would mention leaving home my whole existence would burn. We did have a little encounter only once a day and I look forward to the time she would go to sleep. Sitting there and seeing her sleeping as she would mention some other man in her sleep was my kind of hell. I don’t know if I was being a masochist I loved her even more. I wanted this woman. If only I could have her heart I was going to be the happiest and I don’t know if I had ever been happy. I smiled how I haven’t shown her my smile. But…I didn’t want to fake it with her. I couldn’t offer her my fake smile. With her…I wanted to be me. Shaking my head I recalled how she would always look at me with respect. A week later I came home to only find her dusting the table. “What are you doing?” I asked and she looked at me surprised. “Nothing…I thought to help Andrea around.” I looked at her arm that was still plastered. “No…you don’t do this. When I said I had a job for you. I didn’t mean…this.” She looked at me for an explanation and I took my glasses in my hands to continue. “I was wondering if you can assist me in my office…make coffee, and look at the door…take notes to make calls.” I don’t know why I offered her this job. If anything it was better that she remain at my place and no one ever lay his eyes on her. “I will like that...I can’t believe it…assisting you in your office will be great.” Her smile was beautiful. And, even the thought that from tomorrow she will be with me in my office had me so looking forward to tomorrow. I was waiting for her at the breakfast table but she never came. It was only when I was about to leave I found her coming out too. I knew at this point she asked Andrea about the time I leave. “Good morning, Mr Gordon.” I nodded my head looking at her clothes. She had blue jeans on with a blue top that hid her perfectly. “Why won’t you try something from the closet?” I asked knowing it doesn't go with my office and she shook her head before replying. “I…I don’t even know to whom those clothes belonged. I don’t think…” “Those are yours…” I said making her still. Fuck, "...it was before your friend packed your things and sent them to me. I thought you can get the consciousness back and bought things." She looked at me still before adding. “All of those clothes…those have dresses too.” I wonder what was wrong. Why she wouldn’t like dresses? “Shall we go?” I asked breaking her moment. “Yea…” She walked behind me and I had to wait for her in the elevator. We got down to my car and she passed me making me call her. “Where are you going?” She looked at me and then looked at my car where one of Dimitri's men was ready with the door open. “I will get a taxi…Mr. Gordon.” I wonder from where she thinks. “No, you are to assist me right? I might want to add something. In fact, you will be perfect for this job given I can add notes anytime.” I liked how her cheeks got red. I smiled finding her breaking our gaze. I wonder if I affect her as much as the man she calls for in her sleep. She didn’t say anything and got into the car. I hated how the back seat of my car was not joined but two different seats instead. Well, so far I liked this arrangement because there was no one I wanted to get close to. It was two on the clock and I had already ordered coffee twice. She was sitting talking to the other two assistants outside of my office. This whole floor was for me and I had two other managers placed with their offices on this floor too. I looked at the account file all the while having her space turned on my huge LCD. She seemed a little nervous but still tried to keep her smile. Anne was helping her out in getting the software for booking the appointments and just as it was time for our off I stopped to look at her. “Ms. Marshall…you ready?” She looked at me before managing. “We planned to go out. I heard it was a custom here to treat other colleagues. I didn’t know before…” “Umm…Anne…I forgot to tell you. All of you have to be here tomorrow too. I will be working overtime and…” All of them tried to hide their disappointment. I mean nobody wants to work on Saturday. “...also, Ms Marshall…I am seeing an important entrepreneur and want to buy his set up. I think I would need you. I have dinner with him.” She nodded her head before picking her things. I heard her bidding farewell and waited for her in the executive elevator.   Finding her a little nervous in the car I added, “If you are worried about your dress. You look perfect.” She looked at me and smiled, “Thank you…I know…I mean…they would know we are coming from the office.” She continued looking out and I messaged the restaurant to get the VIP lounge ready. I looked at her beautiful fingers and her chiseled jawline. I got out of the car the moment it was pulled and opened the door for her. “Mr Gordon you didn’t have to...” She said and though I tried to walk close to her she made her distance skillfully. Her hair was straight and would only pass her shoulders. The moment our manager took us to the lounge she stopped to look at the view. “It’s beautiful. Isn’t?” I asked and she nodded. The manager came with the menu and she looked at me. “Aren’t we going to wait?” I inhaled sharply before stating, “We can…but it is him who is late. I think we shouldn’t wait. He was supposed to wait for us. We…are the investors.” She didn’t look at me but I wonder if she knew I had eyes on her because she didn’t look at me even for once. She ordered a soup and I ordered a full course meal along with the most expensive Champaign from 1980. She didn’t touch a thing besides that soup and it was only making me want her more. She wasn't a glutton, an opportunist, and wanted to make a life without knowing her father was at her back all the time. One thing was for certain she wasn’t going to want me. I had to tell her. But what possibly I could tell her. I want you like I have wanted nothing else in my life but I can’t accept you? And, you have to be my secret lover all the time. No one would want this kind of life. A light live music had ignited the air. And, I wonder how the feelings that consume me weren’t reaching her. My food was almost untouched and the moment she finished I asked, “Will you dance with me?” and even the thought of holding her close as she would look at me had me stir.
