13 Much of policing was about spotting patterns. Indeed, entire computer systems had been designed to analyse cases from police forces right across the country and try to identify any patterns which might arise. More often than not, though, it was police officers themselves who spotted them, and Jack Culverhouse considered this to be one of his strengths. Last night’s robbery at Fogg’s had resulted in the death of the shop’s proprietor, and was therefore now being treated as a murder investigation.
