Carrying her personal belongings, Karine walked dejectedly in the company’s corridor. Everyone was looking at her with disdain, contempt, and mockery. Some of them nearly applauded, and they were very happy. None of them pitied her. As she was going down the stairs, she bumped into Cordelia. The latter was stunned for a moment. The memory of her being taken away by the police a week ago surfaced in her head. At that time, they had been walking down the same stairwell, and she met Karine in the same position.
