I stayed up late that night afraid to close my eyes. I fretted about Jasper for hours, he’d come to my rescue again, I owed him so much. I wanted to go to him and check and see if he was alright.
I listened to my heart beat erratically when I thought about him only being meters away, and all I had to do was go to him, but I fought off those urges and finally my eyes closed of their own accord, but it was not a dreamless sleep.
I woke up abruptly, my heart pounding in my ears. I sat for a moment shaking and trying to gain some control over my breathing.
I had relived the same dream as the previous night, only now with the added images from my trip with Sacoma down my memory lane, everything was so much sharper now, and I could feel the pain of it all as if it were happening to me again.
