**Chapter Thirty one: strange darkness- Malia's POV

1183 Words
There was a strange, unnerving feeling about this woman, I couldn't sense a wolf from her, but something dark, unnatural. It was as if she was a shadow come to life, a presence that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Her eyes seemed to hold a secret, a mystery that only she knew, and I couldn't help but feel drawn to her, like a moth to a flame. I tried to shake off the feeling, telling myself it was just my imagination playing tricks on me, but I couldn't shake the sense that there was something fundamentally wrong about her. Still, I found myself wanting to know more, to unravel the enigma that was this woman, and to uncover the secrets she so carefully guarded. **Blake's POV ** Panic surged through me as I relayed the urgency of the situation to Jackson. "Gather all the pack guards, warriors, and anyone else you can think of. We need to find Malia; we must find her." My wolf stirred within me, a growing sense of unease intertwining with the primal instinct to protect. It was a visceral response, a fierce urgency that demanded action. Jackson's voice broke through the turmoil in my mind, laced with confusion. "What’s going on, Blake? What do you mean, find Malia? What’s happened?" The concern in his tone only deepened my anxiety. "There was an attack at her house," I replied, the gravity of the words weighing heavily on me. "They’ve taken her. They’ve f*****g taken her!" Each syllable crashed into the air like thunder, amplifying the reality of our situation. I could feel my heart racing, pounding in my chest like a drumbeat. The image of Malia, scared and helpless, fueled my anger, and my wolf growled in agreement. I clenched my fists, the urge to shift and hunt, almost overwhelming. We had to move, and fast. Every second counted. "Get the others, now," I barked at Jackson, my voice low and menacing. "We're going to get her back, no matter what it takes." The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the forest as Jackson and I raced toward the pack's central meeting point. Trees blurred past, their shadows looming like specters in the night. Each footfall echoed in my ears, a reminder of the urgency pulsing through my veins. A chorus of voices greeted us as we reached the clearing. “What’s the situation?” asked Mia, her brow furrowed in concern. “An attack at Malia’s,” I said, voice steady despite the storm inside. “They took her. We need every able body out there, now.” “What do we know?” Jason, one of the pack warriors, stepped forward, fists clenched and ready. “Not much,” I admitted, frustration pinching at my gut. “But we’ll track them. They won’t get far.” “We’ll split into teams,” Mia suggested. “I can take the east side.” “West for me,” Jason added, his eyes fierce. “We’ll cover ground quickly.” “Good,” I replied, adrenaline surging. “Remember, she’s our priority. Find her. Bring her back.” “DAD!” I burst into his office without knocking, the urgency of the situation racing through my veins. “Have you ever heard of knocking, my boy?” Alpha Damien’s voice was low, laced with a mix of surprise and disapproval. But the gravity of the matter at hand overshadowed formality. “Dad, this is important. Malia has been kidnapped! We’ve already sent out some of the young warriors, but we need more. Will you ask the pack to join us? I have to find her!” My heart pounded in my chest. “An attack on me is an attack on the pack itself, DAD. You have to help!” His gaze shifted, a peculiar glint in his eye that suggested his thoughts were miles away, perhaps already strategizing within the depths of our pack’s vast network. I swallowed hard, silently willing him to mind-link the pack and rally the preventable forces. “Dominic, did you put the plan in place? Was this us?” he suddenly connected with his Beta. “No, Alpha, not yet. We’re still formulating a strategy,” Dominic replied, confusion evident in his tone. “So this isn’t us?” my father pressed further, his brow furrowing. “What’s not us?” Dominic’s mind-link crackled with uncertainty. “Malia has been kidnapped, and my son was jumped. It seems we may have missed something crucial,” Alpha Damien replied, his expression now one of determination mixed with concern. I could feel the atmosphere in the room shift as the seriousness of the situation sank in. Beta Dominic entered the room. "The pack's safety is at risk," my father's voice was firm, his eyes locked onto mine. "Gather the warriors, Dominic. We'll need to move swiftly. I want a full report of the attack and any possible leads on Malia's whereabouts." I nodded, relief washing over me as I felt the pack's energy begin to stir. My father's words were like a spark, igniting a fire that would drive us to action. "I'll get the warriors assembled, Alpha," Dominic replied, his mind-link already buzzing with activity. "I want you to lead the search party, son," my father said, his gaze piercing through me. "You're the one who's been targeted. You know Malia best. Find her." A surge of adrenaline coursed through my veins as I nodded, my heart pounding with determination. I was ready to do whatever it took to rescue Malia and bring her back home. "I won't come back without her, Dad," I vowed, my voice steady. Alpha Damien’s voice crackled through the mind link, a blend of urgency and command that left no room for hesitation. “Make sure she isn't found, and keep an eye on Blake; we can’t have anything happen to him. This could be just what we were hoping for.” The weight of those words hung heavily in the air, a reminder that every decision carried immense consequences. The stakes had never been higher, and the tension crackled like electricity in the atmosphere. Dominic felt the gravity of his Alpha’s orders, knowing that the safety of their pack—and the very balance of power—depended on their next moves. “Sure thing,” Dominic replied, his mind racing as he processed everything that was at play. The memory of the last encounter flickered in his mind, a lingering sense of dread mixing with adrenaline. He had always considered Blake a little brother, and the thought of putting him at risk was unbearable. The mission was clear: they needed to secure the perimeter, concealed from prying eyes, while also keeping Blake within their sights. As he mobilized the pack members, Dominic couldn’t shake the feeling that this fragile moment could either lead to untold opportunities or disastrous consequences. Their future hung in the balance, and every heartbeat echoed the urgency of the task ahead.
