GenevaInspector Kurt Rochenbach cursed as he again drew a blank, his quiet day destroyed by the unresolved mystery of the burnt-out lakeside house. He had traced the ownership to a Swiss company but predictably from there the trail had gone cold. The lady called Diane had told him she had been kidnapped and held here. He had no doubt she was telling the truth, all the signs were there in what was left of the house. There had certainly been an explosion, what he couldn’t figure out was who exactly had done it and the identities of the other captives. It was particularly galling because he’d had the dammed place under observation for many months ready to move in. But events had rapidly gone out of control.
