REIGN OF MAGIC: The last sorcerers.

CHAPTER 7.

After many days, weeks and months, they were unable to find any witch with a child, so they all gathered together again in the city of Rolfe, to discuss the outcome of their search.

During their discussion, one of them said, "We have searched the entire empire for this child or his mother yet we could not find them, and now I am beginning to think that Verona had already destroyed this child before we knew about him."

"There is no way that is possible, I am thinking that the daughter of our brother Greg is the sorcerer we are looking for." Another wizard said.

"It can not be possible, Greg is my brother from the same parents and we all know that he does not have a single magic in him which he could pass down to his daughter." Peder paused. "Also his wife is not a witch to pass powers to her."

"You are saying this to prevent that child from her destiny? Another witch asked Peder.

"No I am not, my brother had been mocked before for not having magic and I do not want his daughter to suffer the same thing, whereas the prophecy spoke of a wizard and not a witch. A male sorcerer is who we are looking for." Peder said.

"If that is the case, your son should be the sorcerer we are looking for, you have magic to pass down to him and so does your wife." A witch said.

"That is also not possible, my son was born before the prophecy came." Peder said.

"Maybe we did not understand the prophecy, it spoke of the return of Verona and the dark lord, and also it spoke of the birth of a great wizard who will put an end to them. But we realized that Verona had already returned before the prophecy therefore this great wizard should have been born also." The witch emphasized.

"I do not doubt you, but there is one thing I am sure of, which is that my son Elek is not the great wizard we need." Peder said.

"And why is that? Why can't he be the wizard of the prophecy?" A wizard asked.

"You won't understand." Peder answered.

"Then make us understand, explain to us why your Elek can not be the last sorcerer." The wizard asked again.

"My family is under a curse, that is why." Peder answered.

"What curse is it that can not be broken?" A witch asked.

"I am the descendant of wizard Kaapro, he was my great grandfather and I believe it is that curse that had affected my brother and will soon be after me, as we all know, it can no longer affect me so my son is the only person which the curse will follow." Peder said then his mood changed.

"That is enough, no more arguments, we had just made our brother Peder to remember the past which is not to have been mentioned." Ned said authoritatively with a little bit of annoyance in his spirit.

Then there was silence for a moment and after some time the silence was broken by a young wizard in their midst."Who is this wizard Kaapro and how come some of us do not know about him?"

"I said that his story is better forgotten and should not be told." Ned replied to the wizard.

"They have the right to know, the young wizards in our midst should know about him." Peder said.

"Are you sure you want his memory to come alive again?" Ned asked.

"Yes, it has to, at least in that way they will understand why sorcery will not be found in my son nor niece." Peder said. "If you want, maybe I will tell them about it by myself?"

"No, since you insist that they know, then I will tell the story on your behalf." Ned said to Peder as he paused and looked at all the wizards and witches that were present, then he began by saying. "The story which you are about to here now should not be told outside these walls, it all started long ago when man and magicians ruled the empire together in peace, Kaapro was the magical ruler while Kees was the man leader, together they both agreed to rule this empire forever so Kaapro with his sorcery took Kees to the underworld, so that they may acquire powers which will make them live forever and be stronger than ever, but it turned out that after they returned from the underworld, Kees had become more power than Kaapro, so he betrayed him by want to rule alone. And when Kaapro tried to reverse what he had done, he ended up losing all his powers to Kees, making him even more powerful, so Kees had to place a curse on Kaapro that his lineage will run out of magical powers, that a time will come when there will be no man from his bloodline who will be able to perform magic. Ever Since then, in every generation, one member of Kaapro's line will not have magic, and Peder here is the last of his lineage that can perform magic. So what he is saying is that his son Elek will definitely not have magic in him. The only way magic can continue in his lineage is if he bears another child."

After Ned was done telling the story, there was quietness for a second, then a wizard said to Peder. "Magic can still continue in your lineage, you should have another child with your wife."

"That can not be possible, the prophecy is that we shall all leave this world after the dark lord is destroyed, so it is of no use." Peder said.

"There is a use, your next child will be the last sorcerer who will end dark lord Kees before we all vanish. Since the prophecy is not forthcoming, let us hasten it." Another witch said.

"That is not going to work, ever since this prophecy came forth, so many of our brethrens has been trying their best so that the last sorcerer will come from them but it has not been working, those whom this child should come from will be those that do not have such thoughts in them, so we are not going to force the prophecy into place rather the prophecy will be fulfilled in due time." Craig said.

"We all have to continue the search for this child, he may be somewhere out there, or he is yet to be born." Pero said.

"You heard the wizard, the search for the sorcerer should continue, but remember, the war could start at any moment, Verona is waiting for her moment to strike, therefore while you go on with the search, also be prepared for anything." Ned said, so the other wizards and witches departed from the leaving only the five great sorcerers.
