Chapter 5 - Meet Again

Kate's POV
College graduation
Nope. I am not the one graduating. I just tagged along with my best friend to show my support for her as her sister finished college. Yep! Bethany the sl*utty b*tch managed to finish college. Like how the h*ll did she do that!
"Besty!" Jenny screamed my name. I waved to her, then walked towards them. Both her parents, who took time off their work just to be there for their daughter's graduation.
We kissed each other's cheeks before I turned to her parents to greet them. "Hello, Dr Eugene, Elaine," I smiled at them.
Elaine kissed my cheeks too, "Kate! How are you?" I nodded at her. I shook hands with Bill. " It's good to have you here, Kate."
"Thank you"
"Mom! Dad!" Someone called them, coming from the auditorium. We all turned around and faced Bethany wearing her graduation gown.
"Bethany, honey," Elaine greeted and kissed her daughter. "Congratulations!"
"Congratulations baby!" While Eugune kissed the b*tch's head.
Their darling daughter smiled at them, "thanks, mom, dad!" And then she finally noticed us. "Oh," her smiles disappeared, "what are you doing here?" She asked.
I got nervous. I avoided her mean look. Jenny stood in front of me, "I invited her," my bestie defended me, "I've already told mom."
Bethany's brow twitched, and so were her lips. " Oh really?" She kept eyeing me.
Elaine touched her daughter's arm, "honey, Kate is like a family to us. Do you have a problem with her?" She asked.
"No," she said without leaving her eyes on me. "Well, whatever. Let's go. It's about to start," she said, and then turned around.
Elaine and Eugene nod to me and follow their daughter inside. Jenny and I were left there. Jenny turned to face me and put her hands on my shoulder. "Hey, it's okay."
I shook my head, "I think I should leave," and planned to walk away.
"No!" She stopped me. " Don't let her intimidate you. My sister is a b*tch, we all know that. And it's not your fault that they've broken up. It's hers!" She grabbed my arms "let her be disturbed by something she did on her own."
I just looked at her, and she smiled at me. I couldn't help smiling back until we both burst into laughter. Our laughter was cut, and we both jolted by screams. No shrieks. An ear-piercing shrieks.
We turned our heads towards the source of these shrieks. And I was caught dumbfounded, and I felt like the world stopped spinning as he walked towards us. I mean, towards our direction.
He was wearing black pants and a suit with a light blue shirt underneath and a white tie. And as he was near, he removed his sunglasses and stopped in front of us, towering over us.
"Jennifer," he nodded to my bestie, and then he looked at me frowning.
I internally groan. He didn't remember me. "Kate," I said, "Katerine Jane Montenegro." I introduced myself to him. "Jenny's best friend"
He nodded and kept on staring at me. Like he was studying me or something. I became conscious of his stare. I felt Jenny nudge my side. I looked at her, and she smiled at me. I smiled back.
"Are you," we both looked back at him, "related to Frank Montenegro?"
I frowned, oh yeah, we haven't properly introduced to one another. " Yes, I am." I timidly smiled.
He just nodded and went on his way.
When he was out of our sight, I screamed as I jumped. "He talked to me! He talked to me!" I held Jenny's hands as I jumped.
"I saw," she said, didn't reach her ears.
But I didn't pay more attention to it. "Do you think he remembers me?" I asked without looking at her.
"I can't say. Anyway, let's get inside!" She then dragged me towards the auditorium.

The ceremony finished, and everyone exited the auditorium. Some take pictures with their friends and family. Bethany and her parents are posing to take some pictures for a souvenir.
Kate tugs Jenny to the side. "Did you know he was to give a speech?" She asks her. She was surprised to see him on stage earlier and when they called for him to give a speech. He looks very handsome and hot up on stage giving an inspirational speech.
They were all surprised to learn that Ulysses had become one of the top and the youngest millionaires in the state. Jenny and I were WOW! Unbelievable!
But the funny thing is. Bethany just let such a wonderful catch go. Yep! They'd broke up that night on Jenny's birthday. Ulysses has just caught his girlfriend having s*x with her classmate in the greenhouse.
It was a disaster. Ulysses was so furious. He punched Anthony, Bethany's f*uck buddy that night. His eyes that night were so sad being betrayed like that.
Kate wanted to hug him that night, to comfort him. But she was also afraid. It's like it was her fault. Well, she's the one who found them in the greenhouse. Ulysses just happened to follow her there that night and then that thing happened.
"No, I didn't," Jenny shook her head. And they look at him taking pictures with almost every girl. "Look at him," she pointed to Ulysses, "girls are swarming all over him. Oh oh."
"What?" Kate asked and she followed her line of sight, her eyes grew wide. Jenny's sister was walking towards him with a big smile. Like she had not done something hurtful to him.
They were a few meters away, so they didn't hear anything they'd talked about. But Ulysses just brushed her off and walked away. They saw her pout as she stomped her feet and her parents tried to calm her down.
Kate and Jenny looked at each other. They were both wondering what had happened. But before they could say anything, a shadow towered over them. They both look at it and are surprised to see Ulysses standing in front of them.
"Hi," he said, flashing his beautiful perfect white teeth. "Jenny, can I borrow your friend for a minute?"
Kate looked at him before she looked at her besty. Her best friend's mouth was wide open as she nodded back to him without even asking the person involved, and that earned her a glare.
Ulysses took Kate's hand and gently pulled her away from everyone. He took her under the tree in the parking area. "Uhm," he started, as he let go of her hand. He looked at her, then quickly averted his eyes. Scratching his nape, "can I.."
Kate frowned at his speech. Is he stammering? She wondered to herself. Could he be nervous? H*ll! No way! Ulysses, the handsome young billionaire? There's no way he could be nervous.
Ulysses took a deep breath and "can I ask you for dinner?" he said in one breath.
Kate's eyes grew wide at his statement. She could not believe what she heard. Did Ulysses just ask her for dinner? He did right?! "Yes!" She blurted excitedly.
And that put a smile on Ulysses' face and erased all his nervousness. "Really!?" Like he couldn't believe that she agreed with him.
Kate smiled at him. " Yes, I would love to go with you". She calmed herself a little. Wanting to show him her matured side.
"Great!" Ulysses took out his phone from his pocket, "can I get your number then?"
Kate nodded and took her own phone out. They'd exchange numbers afterward. Ulysses excused himself.
"I'll call you then, maybe tomorrow?"
Kate nodded again. She was surprised when Ulysses raised his hand and touched her cheeks so that she blushed.
Ulysses smiled as he witnessed her blushing at his touch, "I got to go now" and he let go of her face. He smiled at her one more time before he turned around and left for his car, which was in a parked car just a few meters from the tree.
Kate was still in shock that she had to talk to him and be invited by him for dinner. She just stared at him as he drove away and she didn't even notice her best friend walking towards her side.
"So what did he want?" She inquired her.
Still lingering with the feeling of his touch on her face, she turned to her best friend. " He asked me for dinner," she said, her eyes glittering in happiness. Her bestie shrieked.
