Chapter 8 Sunlight brushed Martha’s cheek while she slept on soft sheets and curled away from the heat, her eyes closed. Jordan’s warm body that had been beside her was gone, but then the weight of the mattress shifted and she felt his hands on her side as he pulled at her sheets. She opened her eyes. “Sleep a little longer,” he said. Then why did he open the blinds to let her know it was day? She sat up to ask, but then she heard women outside the bedroom door.
