Chapter 13 Lying in that lonely bed in her own room all night just made Martha feel colder on the inside, despite the extra blanket. At no point did she actually sleep. She stared out her window toward the Intracoastal and expensive homes and condo buildings near the inlet. Everything was so beautiful outside. The moon was almost full and reflected over the water; it illuminated the black ocean and every so often so she saw swells in the distance. But she had no one to share the beauty with.
