The morning came too fast, Adam thought to himself.
He had the blinds shut but forgot to close the black out curtains.
The morning sunshine filtered through the window waking him up early.
Adam stretched his arms up and tightening his core, pointed his toes down in huge stretch.
Rubbing his dark hair and then his eyes, he got up from the bed in his small apartment and headed to take a shower.
Adam stopped for a moment to pick up his cell phone and scanned his messages, not seeing any messages from Hanna he was disappointed.
He moved his head to one side seeing a missed call.
Checking his voicemail, it was from detective Ryan Davis from the Portland police crime division.
He had been so tired last night that he hadn't even heard his phone ring.
He decided to take a shower and contact detective Davis when he was more presentable.
Pulling on a pair of blue jeans, bare chested he walked to the small kitchen to make himself a cup of chai tea.
Sometimes Adam chose tea over coffee especially when he was already feeling jittery. He dialed the number.
Detective Davis answered on the first ring.
"Detective Davis, how can I help you?"
Adam swallowed the hot tea in one big gulp, he wasn't prepared for Detective Davis to answer his phone so quickly.
"Hello, this is Adam Parker returning your call."
Detective Davis replied,"Great! I was hoping to hear from you this morning, it must have been pretty crazy for you all yesterday."
Adam replied, "Yeah that's true. Detective Davis, what are the next steps that Hanna needs to take, how do you plan to keep her safe?"
Detective Davis said,"Call me Ryan, please. Adam, exactly what is your relationship to Hanna, if you don't mind me asking. I assume you are together?"
Adam paused thinking for a moment, raising one brow he spoke carefully, "Well, you could say I am her boss. I have known Hanna for about 3 years, she has proven to be an exceptional social worker.
She has a true passion to help people. She gives 100 percent. I think her clients would say the same."
He paused for a moment.
Detective Davis interjected,"Well, that's a great resume' she must have, but I'm asking about the personal relationship-to be blunt, are you sleeping with her?"
Adam softly said,"Well, no. We haven't slept together."
Then growing incensed said,"Why is it your business anyway?"
The detective pursed his lips together and agreed. "Yes, I see what you are saying. It's just that, we now believe that this psycho has killed at least one person already- he's now our prime suspect in the Amanda Comb's case.
We ran his record in Seattle, where he told our officer he was living.
For some reason he attacked your...uh Hanna."(avoiding the word girlfriend)
He went on,"After scanning Paul Sicarius' extensive arrest records: s*x trafficking, weapon and drug charges. He really doesn't want to go back to jail.
I am thinking you could be helpful to Hanna.
A man of your physique could be sort of a body gaurd." He tapped his pencil on his desk.
"I want you to take Hanna away from here. I have a feeling it would be better for her to leave town."
Adam had been think this as well. If anything happened to her...he had a sickening feeling in his gut.
Adam made the move to call Hanna after finishing up his conversation with detective Ryan Davis.
Before he finished dialing her number, his phone actually began to ring and it was Hanna.
"Oh hello," he said in a very deep, sexy morning voice.
"How are you doing this morning I was thinking about you, I just got off the phone with detective Davis"
Hanna said, "Why thank you Mr.Parker, I was thinking about you as well.
I was wondering if you had time today to go over some of my files so that I can try to find that name Paul Sicarius, I know that it's in Amanda's file somewhere.
It's just such a distant memory and I'm not sure where it was, but I do remember seeing that name now."
Adam's said, "Please, call me Adam."
She smiled. He said he would be happy to help her.
Anything to be close to her again, he thought.
He wanted to talk to her about his conversation with detective Ryan Davis.
He went on to remind her of their appointment today with the Hungery for a Muder podcast host, he still hadn't told her where they were going-mainly because he didn't want her to get anxious.
She was was a huge fan of the host.
Adam had reached out to the program director, Jerry Watts.
He was able to set up a meeting with the podcast host, Andrew Clay.
Andrew had been hosting the podcast for the past year and had many fans, but his free time was limited.
They were lucky to get this appointment with him.
Andrew had been very intrigued by the story that Adam had told him about the murder of Amanda and the attempted attack on his employee.
Adam thought to himself, she is so much more that just my employee now.....
Adam pulled up in his car with a roar and jumped out nearly running to her doorstep.
She met him at the door this time, already unlocked, she swung it open and flew out like an eager teanager and gave him a big hug.
She looked beautiful today she was wearing a long white dress with a floral print on it.
This seemed to be her favorite type of dress. The long flow of the dress showed off her figure.
She wore a pair of leather strapped sandals.
She just looked beautiful.
There was a golden necklace around her neck and it looked like she'd had hooped gold earrings in her ears.
As he took her all in, he noticed her perfume.
She smelled delicious, like some type of exotic flower.
Adam was speechless for a moment as he felt intoxicated by her.
On the other hand, Hanna was doing the same thing to Adam.
She looked him up-and-down.
Adam was wearing a pair of designer blue jeans a black shirt his muscles stuck out of the sleeves.
She could see the muscles in his thighs as well through his jeans.
He had on a pair of grey nike running shoes.
His hair had been slightly slicked back as if it was still wet.
He smelled of Sandel wood. He was the most handsome person she had ever met in her life, secondary to her father- who's she was quite fond of.
Avery was still in bed, her father was in the kitchen cooking breakfast and making their coffee.
Hanna was happy that they were all together again in her small little home, like family should be.
She decided that she would talk to her father about Avery moving up with her for a little while and probably would need some financial assistance from him to help Avery get by.
That is- if she was agreeable, she wasn't sure, because Avery was always doing her own thing.
On the other hand, Hanna had sensed Avery's depression seemed to be better since she was around the family.
Hanna knew that this was exactly what Avery needed, she just had to stop fighting it.
Henry began to scramble some eggs as he reached over with one hand, he popped some sour dough toast in the toaster.
He had the bacon in the oven, it was smelling delicious.
He knew Hanna wouldn't touch one bit of it. Hanna had made her self a bowl of fresh fruit and some left over Chia seed pudding that she had made the night before.
It was very filling- especially when she sprinkled some toasted walnuts over the top of it.
Henry looked flatly at her vegan food and offered her a piece of bacon, then teasing her, he quickly pulled back and crunched into it.
Adam was no stranger to eating bacon either and he grabbed a piece and shoved it in his mouth smiling big at her.
Hanna just shook her head and said, "You too!" and walked away.
Making her way out to the back porch, Adam followed her and brought his steaming mug of coffee to join her.
He held her hand and looked in her eyes and moved in to kiss her on the lips.
He said, "I've been waiting to do that for a little while this morning."
She smiled warmly at him as they begin to get comfortable on the porch.
He tasted of bacon and coffee.
Avery finally got out of bed, smelling the delicous- smokey bacon.
She was wearing some sloppy pajamas. Rubbing her eyes, her hair looked horrible sticking up everywhere.
She had bags under her eyes.
Hanna said,"Ah, Avery you might want to go get freshened up before you come out and meet our guest," giving her a sisterly warning.
Avery saw that it was Adam and she just shrugged her shoulders and said, " Well hell! He's pretty much family at this point."
Hanna put her head down in embarrassment and sipped on her soy milk cappuccino.
Henry strode outside and joined the trio.
Speaking in a low, serious timber, he informed them that he was going to the Portland police department today to try and see if some of his old colleagues would assist him with looking up records on Paul Sicarius.
He wanted to know exactly what Paul Sicarius was up to, and take a closer look at his record to see where he could find the little creep.
Avery was planning on going out today as well. She had called her boss and let him know that she had a family emergency and needed a few days off.
They were quite understanding about it.
She really didn't want to stay. But, she did have to be there. It was family code.
She understood that's how her family worked.
She was planning on visiting her friend at the IRS, to see of she could find anything out about Paul Sicarius.
