Chapter 18
The ride back to Aaron's and Abigail's was long. Neither spoke to the other. Kinsley didn’t even try to small talk with Carter. She was still upset with him and impatiently waiting to call Shauna back. The car was pitch black, so she couldn’t send a quick message off without Carter noticing and he started in on his twenty questions. They had done enough of that.
To pass the time she went through her check list of things she needed to pack and do once she got back home. It would be a long drive back, almost two days. Maybe she should take a flight and have Abigail get her car from the airport for her. It wasn’t like she could order a ride to LAX from Fort Irwin. The sooner she got back to DC the better. Get away from Carter and all his mixed signals. Being the perfect gentleman
