Carter hummed with energy as they drove to the restaurant. He made her smile. Not just a crack in her lips but a full on smile. He had set himself up for a big goal and he had done it barely trying. Kinsley was so beautiful when she smiled. Her guarded look was gone. Her eyes were bright and shiny. She was a beautiful woman anyway, burns and all, but when she smiled? Breathtaking. It was a good thing he had worn a loser pair of pants tonight.
“Are you going to tell me where we’re going?”
“It’s a surprise.” He wanted to see her face light up like it had when they saw the welcome sign. Carter had spoken to Abigail about his plans and she had recommended some places to go.
“I don’t like surprises.” She huffed crossing her arms over her chest.
“You’re in the wrong field then.”
