Saint or Devil?
Elena's Point of View It was a hectic day; so much had already happened and so much was yet to happen… My night at the exclusive members-only nightclub was rather packed. Nightclub work is not on my list of things to do. I do, however, receive a decent income from it, which is essential for my survival. I'm simply helping out in the kitchen; I seldom go outside to greet visitors. That's okay, then. But that was one of those rare days I had to go to the front. While I was washing dishes, Mr Jenkins, our club's staff manager, raced in my direction. "El!!!" he shouted my name, making me look at him in shock. "We are short of staff today, and we have many guests. I need you at the front!" he said, gasping. "Mr Jenkins… Can't we have someone else for that? You know I hate going to the front." I tried to object. I hate to go to the front and deal with those wealthy drunkards who treat the waitresses as their toys. Indeed some of the waitresses working in the club offer the guests special services as well, so the guests treat all the waitresses as objects they can use for fun. "I know… I know… But today you must go… I have no one else." Mr Jenkins replied, rubbing his chin nervously. I understood there was no use in arguing, given the worn-out expression on his face. Also, what he said was true. We are highly short-staffed today. So I have to help him, or I can say goodbye to my job. "Okay! I will go change," I agreed. **************************** "Bring this to the private room1 and take their order." Mr Jenkins ordered me, handing me a pricey bottle of whiskey. "Keep your arrogance aside and treat the customers with your best. They are regulars and VIPs. If you do anything unwanted, it will end your time here." Mr Jenkins warned me as he knows how hot-tempered I am. I sighed deeply and moved to Private Room 1. Typically, VIP clients reserve all of the private rooms. But since they receive private room 01, our nicest room, these clients must be VVIPs or something. VVIPs are troublemakers because they pay a lot and demand a lot! "Elena, keep fighting; you can do this." As I pushed open the door to the room, I mumbled to myself. When I realized who was in the room, I was so shocked that I forgot to breathe. Why God? Why? Why do you want me to suffer all day? What did I do? It will be a long night tonight. I simply want to get through tonight and keep my job. I thought, gazing at the sexiest yet the most arrogant man I have ever encountered. ********************************** A few hours earlier at the college… I was heading to the library to borrow a reference book. On the way, I bought a coffee to cover my lunch. I don't have money to buy anything else. I needed to return to the faculty for my lecture, so I hurried. When I was in the passage that connects to the library, I suddenly bumped into someone who had just entered the passage. "s**t!!!" the one I bumped into cursed as I saw my coffee getting spilt all over his white shirt. I was scared to observe how the white fabric absorbed the coffee making a pattern. I am in real s**t, right? "What the hell!!!" as that person continued to curse, I looked at him scaredly. God! Who the hell is this? How could a human being be this handsome? I lost myself for a split second in front of the most handsome man I had ever seen in my whole life. My gaze followed the contours of those luscious lips, exquisite jawline, and deep brown eyes, and I'm very certain there are six packs under that now soggy white shirt. Don't get me wrong. I am not the type of girl who easily gets carried away by the hot looks of a guy. But this guy right in front of me… I don't know why, but he has this aura which could make me feel different. I immediately blinked out of my thoughts and restored my focus to his face as he shouted, "Hey!!! " He cried, "Look what you've done to my shirt!" "I'm very sorry. " I hastily replied, feeling ashamed of how I had been looking at him before. "It is easier to say sorry, but my shirt won't get stained free with that." he pouted. God! He looks even hotter when he scowls. What is really wrong with me? Get yourself together, girl! "I know. Please forgive me… I was in a hurry, so I didn't see you. Please tell me, what should I do to compensate?" I asked apologetically. Without saying anything, he looked at me from head to toe. I felt so vulnerable and timid just by how those eyes traversed along my body. This guy indeed has something that could put me on an emotional roller coaster! "Compensate?" he asked with sarcasm in his voice. "Do you know how much this shirt cost?" he asked again. I shrugged since I didn't know, but I had the impression that this shirt was pricey because the guy was so dapper-looking. He could not possibly be sporting a low-quality shirt. "This shirt cost 10,000." my mouth opened as I heard the price. Are you kidding me, Mr. handsome? I can work my butt off without taking any breaks. Still, I would take at least four months just to earn that! "Why on earth do you come to college in such a pricey shirt?" I couldn't help but ask. "I have a reputation to uphold, and for your information, this shirt is one of the cheapest I have, " he remarked, giving me a snarky look. "You mean you wear even more expensive clothes than this one? Are you crazy to spend this much money on a piece of fabric?" I know my mouth has no breaks at all. Whenever something comes into my mind, I always toss them out of my head without giving them any thought. "Really, this damn shirt worth that much? " I asked in astonishment, delicately caressing the hem of his shirt. He immediately smacked my hand and looked right into my eyes. "You must know that for a person like me, buying expensive clothes is not a fancy thing; it is a necessity," he said harshly. "Necessity? Why are you the crown prince?" I chuckled. "Although I'm not the crown prince, don't you believe everyone still treats me that way? " This time, he questioned somewhat seductively. "How could I know? This is the first time I saw you." I said, frowning at him. "Yes, face to face. However, you must have seen my photos every day," he said. "What?" I took a close look at his face. He kind of looks familiar, especially with those deep brown eyes. But I couldn't remember where I had seen him. I couldn't recall seeing his photos either. "I haven't seen any of your photos," I said. I just avoided the part where I felt he looked familiar. "Are you kidding me? That is impossible! Just as you were staring at me earlier, you must be one of the fans. One of the die-hard fans who live just to have a crush on me…" he said with a cheeky smile. Okay, this is getting annoying now. Despite his hot look, he indeed has a foul mouth. He is so full of himself, right? "Here!" I said, raising my voice at him. "I am being honest here. I have never seen you in photos, and I am no one's fan. I don't even have time to think about those trivial things. " He looked intently into my eyes as though he wanted to know whether I was serious. "You are just shy to admit you are my fan, right? "Then he smirked. "Even if you are a Zombie who doesn't watch TV or are active on social media, you still see my pictures on Billboards on every road!" "There is no way you don't know who I am," he added. This guy! How can he be so full of himself like this? I have never met a person like this. "For your information, I just moved to the city. I am from a very rural village where there are no billboards at all. Even if there were any, I have many important things to do than paying attention to them." I said ignorantly. "You are unbelievable!!!" he said in awe. This guy is really getting on my nerve! "If it makes you happy, consider myself to be a fan. I don't care. Right now, I am in a hurry. So please tell me what I should do to correct my mistake?" I asked without attempting to mask my irritation. Hearing my words, he appeared sceptical. His eyes widened, expressing astonishment and disappointment simultaneously. "I want a new shirt just like this one from the same brand," He said as it was the best solution. "Don't be ridiculous," I yelled. "Remember that you cannot purchase this shirt from here. You must place an order with the store in Paris and arrange for delivery." Then he said. Is this person going mad? Or is he just messing with me? "You know what, Mr Stranger… I can't afford to buy you a shirt like this; even if I could, I don't think I owe you that. We both are at fault here. You also have the opportunity to be more careful, especially when you are covered with such expensive items." I said, trying my best to keep my composure. I actually hate guys who are acting like jerks. No matter how handsome this guy is, he is a real jerk. "So now you are telling me I am the one who made a mistake?" he asked, peeping into my face. Right then, his phone started to ring, and he had to answer it. "Yeah…" he said. "Okay, I will be right there." then he replied. "I have to go now. But this doesn't end here. Let's see how you compensate for this." he said before leaving me in the passage. I thought he would leave me alone after that. Why would a rich guy like him bother about a shirt that much? However, after 2 hours, I realized my thinking was incorrect. I was in the cafeteria with my only friend, Sam, when someone shouted, "Coffee girl!". Even though there were many people in the cafeteria then, I felt like the coffee girl was me. So to find out who was calling me, I turned around. At The table behind us sat the rude, selfish guy I met earlier. With him, there were two other guys who looked so damn handsome, just like him. I literally couldn't look away from them for a second. I was honestly struck by how good-looking all three of them were. "Do you know them? "Sam yanked my hand and asked. I was jolted out of my thoughts by his voice. Before I could answer what he asked me, that guy shouted at me. "Coffee girl, come. We have a business to sort out." I know I was at fault for what happened. So I thought of going there and solving the problem. Then he will leave me alone. There were a lot of girls around that table, but they all moved away, letting me come near. All of them looked astonished because that guy had asked me to come. I had no idea why everyone was around that table. Of course, these three guys look like three Greek Gods, but how can these girls shamelessly hang around them like this. I walked up to him and looked at his face. He was smirking deviously. I looked down at his shirt to see the coffee stain I had made; it still made me feel guilty. "So should I give you the number to contact my vendor in Paris? You can place a direct order," he asked. "Don't be ridiculous! It is just a fu**ing coffee stain!" I yelled at him, and I regretted yelling at him right after that. Everyone was staring at me like they saw a ghost. Even his two friends were looking at me with their eyes widely opened. That guy's eyes stretched to a thin line showing his disappointment… "I just told you how much this shirt is worth. I am not going to leave this slide," He pretended to be cool as he spoke. But I could tell that he was internally raging. "I didn't ask you to leave this slide," I said firmly. "I know a good laundromat. We can clean your shirt there. We can share the cost since we both are at fault. "I said the most reasonable solution that came to my mind. "What??" he screamed at me. "How dare you even think of putting my shirt in the laundry? I want a new shirt!" he yelled again. "Be sensible, please. How old are you? Six?" I questioned fiercely. I've always known how to optimize the use of my possessions. Never would I discard a fabric before it became hard to wear. Also, I'm content with the few things I have. So why are these wealthy bastards so demanding? He seemed to get even more enraged by my words. He gave me an irritated expression as he inhaled. "You ruined my shirt, and now you are arguing. I hate girls like you who pretend to be so cool but truly are arrogant bitches!" he screamed. Did he just call me a b***h? "How dare you call me a b***h, you a**hole!!!" I screamed without even thinking about the surroundings. I didn't even notice I was in the middle of nearly a hundred students. "How about you calling me a**hole!" he screamed. I sighed… There is no gain in arguing with him. He is so full of himself. He yelled again, "No, I want a new shirt." He gave me a wicked smile as he stared into my eyes. "But if you do one thing, I'll completely forget about this," he added. I gave him a puzzled look. I had had enough of our arguments and didn't want to look foolish in front of everyone. "You acknowledge knowing me and being one of my biggest fans. Tell me you're hiding that fact, "He added while grinning playfully. **************************** Author's Note Hello all, this is my newest book. I hope you would like the story as same as you have loved my previous work. After writing the full chapter only I understood it is too long to upload as a single chapter. So I split it into two.
