Kira on hearing Bryan's voice nodded, as she got out of her trance, "Y-yes Alpha", she responded promptly.
Bryan started walking again and this time Kira followed him quietly, at his back, while wondering why he did what he did.
He also had long white hair like Kira's with black hair, but Aiden's hair was black and shoulder-length. It was like they had shared some things with Kira, Bryan with the long hair like Kira and Aiden with the black hair like Kira.
Kira thinking about this, found it funny and held herself to not laugh out loud, just keeping it inside with a shake of her head.
It was like they had raided her closet and she wondered if they had shared her hairdresser too.
Soon they both got down the stairs and reality came back to Kira.
Everyone was seated at the dining table, Aiden, their parents, just them.
"Good morning Sir and Ma", Kira greeted the twins' parents along with a bow.
"Good morning Kira", Their mom smiled at her softly.
"Morning, Kira", their dad said with a nod.
Bryan and Aiden had already briefed their parents on the new changes, so it would not come to them as a surprise, especially their father.
"Please sit, you must be famished. We have made different kinds of food, help yourself to anything", Their mom said instantly, trying to soften the tension in the room sincerely.
Kira nodded softly and muttered, "Thank you."
"Sit here," Bryan said to Kira, holding her by the shoulder and taking her to her seat which was in the middle of he and Aiden.
As she sat down, she looked at the different meals at the table. There were grilled chicken and vegetable fried rice, pancakes with fresh strawberries and whipped cream, crispy bacon, yogurt with granola and banana, lastly was freshly squeezed orange juice.
The juice looked chilled.
So many choices to be made. She waited until everyone started eating before she decided on starting, but before eating, she poured herself a glass of water and drank it.
When she was done, she scanned the table, her eyes moving from one dish to another, unsure of where to start. She hummed to herself, trying to decide on which to go for without making it too obvious.
"Maybe that one," she said in her mind, hesitantly reaching out for the crispy bacon, but then pulled her hand back.
Aiden let out a soft chuckle just for his ears and decided to serve her, himself. All the while, Kira watched him as he took her plate, dished out some vegetable fried rice and grilled chicken, setting it in front of her, "Eat!"
Kira nodded and picked up her spoon, her hand shaking slightly. The rich and sweet aroma wafted through her nose, so tempting.
As her hand trembled slightly, she slowly dipped the spoon into her plate and brought the first spoonful to her lips. It was delicious, she had to close her eyes to take it in.
Kira took another spoonful, then another, her rhythm of eating quickening as the good meal hit her.
Her head was downcast as she ate, soon her eyes started watering, tears welling up in them, blurring her vision. It had been so long since she'd had a meal like this. She sniffed softly, the last thing she wanted to do was draw attention to herself.
Although she tried to keep the tears at bay as she ate, they slipped down her cheeks, mingling with each bite. Kira quickly wiped her eyes with the back of her hand.
Her mother's cooking was the first thing that came to her mind, even her father's and despite the pain, she kept eating. She missed them so much and their cooking, she missed everything about them, she was never allowed to even grieve properly.
The Alpha twins had started noticing something was wrong with their mate, and as they tried to reach out for her, their mother stopped them through the mind link, "Let her be!", she said to her sons.
She was a mother too, and it seemed like she knew what was going on with Kira, and it would be best to let her feel whatever she was feeling.
Bryan and Aiden were hesitant at first but listened to their mother, although they tried to get closer to her, just maybe their scent would calm her down.
As Kira kept eating, her throat tightened with each swallow, she sobbed quietly as she ate, the food mixing with the salt of the tears. Her heart ached a lot as she forced herself to keep eating, spoon after spoon, even as her shoulders shook with quiet sobs.
When she was almost done, for whatever reason she was calming down a bit. Finally, she set the spoon down, her hands shaking.
She immediately dried her eyes and looked up, forcing up a smile, "T-thank you, the meal was delicious," she said softly, "Please can I be excused?", Kira asked, standing up.
She did not wait for an answer and left immediately she asked.
Bryan and Aiden got up too, wanting to go after her.
"You boys relax and eat your food, I will go", Their mother said, getting up.
"Mother?!", Aiden called out.
"Listen to me," She said, and left after they accepted, following Kira.
Kira had gone up to her room, she was not sure if she was ready to go outside and see how the pack was just yet.
And so the twins' mother, Elara followed her up.
She knocked twice and then opened the door, walking in.
Kira on seeing Elara, quickly dried her eyes and got up.
"It is okay Kira, you can relax," Elara said softly and sat on the bed, tapping on the other side for Kira to join her.
Kira sat down and Elara smiled at her, "I know everything happening might be difficult for you. I understand why, and that is why I would like to talk about it with you."
Kira looked at Elara and asked, "What do you want to talk about?"
"The past!"
