Nina’s POV:
After talking to my family and friends; they were hesitant but told me to go for it. Whom am I kidding, my parents were pissed. My siblings didn’t care; they told me to do whatever I want since I’m old enough.
I sat there, staring at the laptop screen. “Matt told me I could move in with him,” I said quickly.
Alice popped the strawberry lollipop out of her mouth and stared at me as her chin hit the bed. Ever since Alice was seven, she had this obsession with strawberry flavor lollipops. I blame Neilson since he was the one who got her addicted to those things.
“Are you?” Alice question.
“I’m thinking, maybe, yes, no?” I responded.
She sat there, staring at the screen, chewing on her bottom lips. “I think you should go for it.”
“What?” I whisper, in disbelief of her response.
She grabbed her giant brown wolf stuffed animal and cuddled with it, indicating Neilson is coming home late from work. “I mean, you always wanted to try living in a different state, but you never moved since you wanted to stay with Kevin.”
“I don’t know,” I mumble.
“Remember that scholarship you got to NYU? You turned it down because you wanted to go local and stayed with him. You sacrifice so much for that ungrateful bastard. Now, it’s time for you to do something for you,” she said, nodding in agreement with her words.
I chewed on my fingernails. “You’re right,” I mumble.
“You bet your ass I’m right, I’m always right, remember that,” she said, sticking the lollipop back into her mouth, cuddling closer to her wolf. When I come to Alice for advice, she talks like this sophisticated, intelligent woman and then she does something like this.
I didn’t tell anyone except Matt, Alice, and Neilson about what Kevin did. I asked them not to tell anyone else. Alice said I was too kind, but I still love him, and I didn’t want to damage his reputation. Plus, he is good friends with my siblings. I didn’t want to wreck that.
“Ready?” Matt asked.
I sat at the airport, staring at many people walking back and forth towards all kinds of directions. Taking deep breaths, I attempt to settle down the tingly sensation in my stomach. “As ready as I can ever be,” I said, gripping onto the chair.
Honestly, I’m a nervous wreck. I’m about to fly across the country, away from everything I know. I’m leaving my friends, family, and job. In my perspective, that can be quite overwhelming and pretty devastating.
Everything hinges on what I do right now, and once done, it can never be undone. The moment I step on the plane, there is no going back.
While I was packing my minimal amount of stuff this morning, I put my new cell, or Matt’s old cell phone somewhere and started panicking when I couldn’t find it. Matt called me, and boy did I feel like a fool when it rang.
“Matt! Matt” I screamed.
I can hear footsteps running down the hallway heading towards the room. “What’s wrong, Short Stack?”
“I-I-I can’t find my phone! It’s gone! It disappears! Oh, my goodness! I’m so sorry!” I shouted, running around the room frantically searching for my phone.
Matt grabbed my shoulder and shook me slightly. “Calm down. I’ll call your phone, okay?”
I sat down and nodded. He took up his phone and dialed the number. When I heard a ringing sound, I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone. Matt stared at me and shook his head. I gave him a small sheepish smile and shrugged my shoulder. He flicked my forehead and walked out.
Matt held the top of my hand and smiled at me as if he could read my thoughts. “Don’t worry. I’ll be there right beside you.”
I nodded and stared at my black tennis shoes as Matt made small circles with his thumb on my palm to calm me down.
“Come on, let’s go,” Matt said.
Immediately I stood up. “Okay, let’s go,” I said with determination, because I know if I didn’t go right now, I would make a U-turn back home. I grabbed my luggage and started walking.
Feeling a hand on mine, I turned around. “Short Stack, you’re going the wrong way. Our flight is on the other side.” He pointed a finger in the other direction.
“Oh,” Matt shook his head and led me towards our flight.
“This way please,” a lady said as she hands Matt his pass back.
My face scrunches up while I follow her. “Doesn’t she want to see my pass?” I whisper to Matt.
He merely shrugs as he holds my hand. My eyes widen when she leads us to a door that says VVIP.
What? I didn’t even know VVIP existed.
We passed by a few people who looked at Matt and I. They were all casually sitting around sipping wine in their expensive-looking suit. Glancing at Matt, he wore a fancy looking black coat and blue jeans that fit him very nicely. I looked down at my blue t-shirt and shorts.
Damn. What was I thinking?
They gave Matt a quick nod, and he returned it. “Do you know them?” I asked.
“Kind of, we do business together.”
I nod and continue scanning the room. The room was quite dim, low volume of the soothing piano played in the background, creating a relaxing atmosphere. It had several flat screen tv, with a soccer game on along with a bar. The couches were a lovely color of black along with some white pillows. Beautiful green plants were surrounding the room, along with a pool table.
After a few minutes, we enter a plane. The minimum amount of chairs was a color of tan, large, and comfy complimented with a table on the side. There was a flat-screen tv hanging on both sides of the plane, and the carpeting was in the whitest shade I’ve ever witnessed.
Hesitantly, I sat down in the chair. “Is this first class?” I whispered.
Matt’s face scrunched up for a short while then returned to his usual features. “Kind of,” Matt whispers back with slight amusement.
“Why are we in first class?” I scan my surroundings once more.
Every single seat was empty, making us the only passengers. What a waste, they should offer those seats at a discount. Then again, it wouldn’t be first-class anymore.
“I thought you would enjoy a more comfortable ride to your new home.”
“But, I paid for coach.”
“I upgrade it.”
“But-”
A lady cut me off. “What would you like to drink or perhaps eat today?”
“Coke?”
She nods, “And you, sir?” Her smile widened as she looked at Matt.
“Gaja Barbaresco and Vosges chocolate, preferably dark,” he said with class and sophistication.
Woah that’s pretty sexy. I wonder how it sounds if we were in be- wait no, stop it, Nina!
When I looked at her, she was thoroughly checking out Matt. I don’t blame her; Matt is unbelievably attractive. He continues staring at his cell phone, typing who knows what.
I lean toward him. “What’s that?”
“Red wine.”
“They serve wine here?”
He nods, giving me an amused smile.
“What? Why am I drinking coke then?” I whispered loudly.
I raised my hand only to be pulled down by Matt. “Nina, I saw you drink before, and the answer is no.”
“But-” I gave him my best puppy dog eye.
“Fine, you can take a sip of mine.”
I pulled out my lips and nodded, better than nothing, I guess.
The girl came back with our drinks. I noticed her skirt was a lot shorter, and her boobs looked like it was about to pop out into my face. Looking down, I internally cursed my genetics for giving me these itsy bitsy mosquito bites.
I watch her as her eyes practically undress Matt. I had never seen a more thirsty girl in my life. Looking at Matt, I can tell he is ignoring her stares and quite uncomfortable with it.
I heard a buzzing noise on my cell phone and grabbed it.
Long Bean: Help me.
Looking up, Matt was still on his cell phone with an emotionless face.
As she placed our drinks down, she accidentally spilled my coke on Matt’s laps.
Like seriously? Can’t she spill his drink on his lap? Why sacrifice my drink?
She released a loud, exaggerated gasp. “Oh! I’m sorry! Let me get that for you, sir!” She grabbed a towel and patted Matt’s lap, very close to his special part.
“No, it’s okay. I got this.” Matt quickly grabs the towel from her hand as he glances at me with desperation in his eyes. “Please,” he mouthed.
“I’m so sorry, sir! If you give me your number, I will pay you back, every penny,” she said seductively.
“No, you don’t have to,” Matt said in an icy tone as he threw the towel down on the table.
She bit her lips in disappointment. She glances at me. “Your younger sister is quite cute.”
What? We aren’t even the same ethnicity! Then again, step-siblings aren’t rare.
“She is-”
“His lover,” I said, cutting off Matt.
She looked at me with wide eyes as Matt bit his lips attempting to hold back his laugh. We have played the boyfriend-girlfriend game before.
“Are you perhaps interested in my lover?” I change my tone to a sassier one. I dramatically stood up and flopped down onto Matt’s lap.
“Look pretty lady with very nice large boobs. Matt belongs to me. Everything you see from the hair on his gorgeous head to the perfect nail on his toe belongs to me. So, stop checking him out and go do your job,” I snap my finger at her, followed by a hand wave in a random direction.
She nods slightly, mumbling sorry as she walks away. Looking at Matt, he wore a substantial smug on his face. “Lover?” He wrapped his arms around me.
“Yes, lover. I thought you might need some aid.” I flipped my hair and beamed a smile at him.
He licked his lips and gave me a tight smile. “Thank you, girlfriend.” He kissed my forehead.
“I know, boyfriend. I am the best aren’t I?” I said in my best-conceded voice.
“The best girlfriend in the world.” His arms tighten, pulling me closer to him.
I wrap my arms around his neck. “My pants are wet.”
He smirks, “I know, I have that kind of effect on women.”
Rolling my eyes, “You owe me new pants and dinner for rescuing you from the thirsty wolf over there.”
“Okay Short Stack.” He placed his forehead on my shoulder.
Whenever Matt and I go out, girls always hit on him. He would tell them no, but they would persist, throwing themselves at him. Some physically throw themselves at him. At first, it was amusing, but over time it got irritating. I never thought I had the opportunity to see so many thirsty women before in my life. After hanging out several times together, Matt asks me to be his fake girlfriend, so other girls will leave him alone. I get a free meal out of it, so why not. Who can turn down free food?
I took a sip of Matt’s wine, and my face grimaced. “God, this tastes awful.”
He leans back and chuckles as I take another sip. Not quite a sip, but I drank over half of it. I would’ve inhaled the whole thing if Matt didn’t take it away from me.
Thirty minutes later, I was giggling at everything he said. I’ve always been a lightweight. I never drink unless I’m with someone I trust. Even then, I drink only a cup or two.
After some time, I fell asleep on the plane. If I don’t continuously drink alcohol, I get sleepy. I can feel the airplane shaking me back and forth. Laying my head on the comfy pillow, I can feel a warm body radiating beside me.
Gently, a shaky palm laid on my cheek, fingers pushing the strand of my hair back. Softly, I felt a pair of lip brushing against mine. Releasing a low moan, I couldn’t help but go into for more. My mouth opens, and I can feel a tongue slipping inside.
What a damn realistic dream.
A hand laid on my thigh, entering higher, and I gripped onto the shirt, body filled with anticipation. A tongue swirled into my mouth, tasting devine bitterness.
I can feel his tongue hungrily exploring nearly every part of my mouth as the hand slipped farther up. When the pair of lips left mine, a low whimper escaped.
“More,” I moaned out.
It felt so good, so real.
My eyes burst open, seeing Matt on his cell phone, biting his thumb. Inhaling and exhaling gruesomely, I can feel my underwear soaked, as the temperature in the airplane increased. Matt looked up from his phone and lifted a brow. “What’s wrong?”
I shook my head. “N-Nothing,” I stuttered out, leaning back down.
Matt sat there and continued staring at me, with this desirable look. My eyes trailed down to see his left foot shaking uncontrollably. “Are you okay?” I ask.
He cleared his sore throat and nodded. “Yes, I’m fine,” he said, resuming his attention on his phone.
Sitting there, I continue staring at Matt, who avoided my eyes. Swallowing the saliva inside my mouth, I can taste bitter dark chocolate.
