Chapter 6: The Other Side (3)

Lillian went to the bathroom and looked at her face. She touched it with her hand, it was hot. ‘I’m blushing so much… well its normal, right? I mean anyone would blush after being kissed by someone so beautiful like Caroline…’ She thought to herself silently.
Lilian took a while to calm down, splashing cold water onto her face then drying it with a towel. She went back to the living room where she saw the two girls on the table and none of them had began eating yet. “What’s the matter? Is the food not good?” She asked in a worried voice.
“We were waiting for you.” Caroline said with a calm voice as she gestured to the woman to sit down.
“Why? I told Emily its fine to eat first…” Lillian asked as she obediently sat down in front of her plate.
“But… Auntie said it’s no good to eat without mommy on the table because we are family.” Emily repeated back the elder woman’s previous words.
‘Family huh…’ Lillian thought to herself as she looked at the two girls. Were they truly family?
“Let’s eat now. Thanks for the food.” Caroline said as she closed her eyes as if she was saying a prayer.
Emily followed suit and did the same. “Thanks for food.” She said.
They all began eating rather silently. Lillian however still continued glancing at the woman several years older than her…
‘Even when she eats, she looks beautiful.’
Lillian couldn’t help but admire the other’s elegance that clearly shined through in everything she did. Every movement, every breath that Caroline had seemed so effortlessly perfect, it was almost surreal to be in the presence of such a woman.
After they ate, Emily quickly got tired. The four year old went to sleep in her room…
“The food was really delicious. Thank you.” Caroline said, finally breaking the silence.
“I could cook again tomorrow then!” Lillian replied in an excited voice.
“There is no need. The housekeeper will be coming in tomorrow.” Caroline said as she stood up, but as she glanced at the other’s expression she paused.
“..okay” Lillian said in a bit of a disappointed voice. ‘I had wanted to cook for her but I always end up getting rejected…’
“Is something the matter?” Caroline asked as she carefully observed the other’s facial expression.
“Its…” Lillian hesitated to speak. She didn’t want to be a bother to the other.
“Tell me if anything’s wrong. I can fix it.” Caroline said in a confident voice, her facial expression frozen in a forever emotionless look. It made her seem even less real, like she was a painting of some sort that had suddenly come to life.
“Um… well… I’d like to repay you somehow… but you never allow me to. So I feel like I’m useless…” Finally Lillian managed to speak her mind, but the other reacted in a way she would have never expected…
“I see…” Caroline said as she approached the woman. “I never knew you felt that way…” She continued speaking, her voice however seemed even lower than before.
“Yes, so… if possible allow me to do more for-Mph!” Lillian’s words were suddenly cut off by the other’s lips. Caroline was kissing her but not on the cheek this time… it was on her lips. Even more the kiss was more intense than anything she’s done before. “Mmm…” Lillian felt lightheaded and her vision blurred. ‘What’s happening right now?!’
Before she could even manage to question the situation, Caroline touched her waist and under her blouse. The passionate kiss continued as their tongues entwined with each other.
“Ngh… wait…” Lillian managed to say and gently pushed on the other’s chest.
At those words Caroline immediately stopped and stared at the other.
“Hm?” Lillian looked at the woman that now just stood there.
“What is it? You seem disappointed, I thought you wanted me to wait.” Caroline said with a straight face.
“I-I did… I was just surprised you actually stopped…” Lillian spoke her mind all of a sudden.
“I wouldn’t do things you dislike. If you tell me to stop, I will… but… if you tell me to continue then…” Caroline leaned in to whisper the last words. “…then I’d be happy to oblige.”
Those words made Lillian blush once more.
“I’ll go work for a little bit in my office if that’s alright. Call me if you need anything.” Caroline said with her usual unemotional tone as she turned to leave.
“O-okay…” Was all Lillian was able to say in this situation… Being kissed so passionately was something she never imagined would happen. But why did it happen? Why did Caroline decide to kiss her all of a sudden? Wasn’t their relationship strictly business?
‘What the Hell is happening…’ Lillian wondered to herself as she sat back down on the chair. She traced her lips that were still warm from the kiss. She could still feel the other’s touch all over her body, the heat becoming more and more noticeble. ‘The places Caroline touched… they burn…’
