Chapter 1: Not So Good Sunday (1)

“How many times do I have to tell you I won’t do it?” Ashton asked the woman that continued holding onto the handles of his wheelchair.
“You’ve already went to therapy so you might as well start with walking rehab!” Elizabeth insisted, it was obvious she wasn’t going to let go until the man agreed.
“I can’t walk! That’s the one thing that won’t change. Isn’t it enough that I’m not traumatized anymore and I don’t have nightmares?!” Ashton yelled at the persistent woman. It’s been about a half a year since he began therapy. He made significant progress in that time and now Elizabeth was doing her best to persuade him to continue with rehab.
“It will change if you just go! I found a world class expert on the subject! Not to mention you refused to properly do all the things Mr. Rendor told you to do!” Elizabeth also matched the other’s yelling as she spoke.
Even if both were yelling, neither of them was angry. They looked like two kids fighting over a toy. When in reality they were two childhood best friends fighting over the fact that one of them refuses to go to rehabilitation for his legs.
“How long do you plan on sitting in a wheelchair, huh? Do you think Ethan would like that?” Elizabeth asked in a rough voice.
“He never seemed to mind until now.” Ashton said calmly. “It doesn’t make much of a difference in our s*x life either, so why should I go to the trouble?”
“You… what a perverse old man you’ve become…” Elizabeth said in a low voice.
“We’re the same age Lizzy, if I’m old then so are you.” Ashton said as the woman finally lost her grip on the man’s wheelchair and he managed to escape.
“Ash! You never get tired of annoying me, right?” Elizabeth asked as she touched the top of her head, she was having a headache from the entire ordeal.
“Lizzy, listen even if I go there won’t be any results. I’m already used to the wheelchair and it doesn’t really make my life anymore difficult either.” Ashton said as he turned to face the woman.
“I feel like you’ve made zero progress even after therapy…” Elizabeth said in a defeated voice. “You haven’t healed completely, right?” She asked, referring to a mental wound rather than a physical one.
“It’s more than just one incident that brought me to this point. Of course I wouldn’t be alright after just six months of therapy.” Ashton said as if it was obvious. His stubborn attitude made Elizabeth’s headache hurt even worse.
“Ash… You’re an i***t, I hope you know that.” Elizabeth said as she picked up her purse and headed for the door.
“I know it better than anyone else.” Ashton said as he send off the woman that was far too busy to be dealing with him.
“I hope you come to your senses one of these days… I can reassure you Ethan would like you to heal.” Elizabeth said with her back turned to the male in the wheelchair.
“If he ever asks me to do it himself then I might consider it.” Ashton said in a low serious voice. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his lover’s sake…

“What was that all about?” Edward came from the other room after hearing all the noise the two childhood friends were making. Edward had stayed over at his brother’s apartment for a bit since his roommate wanted some privacy when bringing a girl over.
“Don’t let it concern you, Lizzy and I were just talking about something.” Ashton said as she moved his wheelchair back to the living room.
“Hey… If it’s possible can you teach me how to work in the company?” Edward asked, he just got up but that was the first thing on his mind.
“I’m surprised you’re so motivated.” Ashton said as he smiled and patted his brother on the back. “Is it maybe because of your lover~” He asked in a teasing voice.
“That’s exactly right.” Edward admitted, he smiled at the mention of his boyfriend.
“You’ll have to start going to the company with me so I can teach you properly. It’s going to be tiresome; I’ll say that in advance.” Ashton spoke as he opened up once of the books on the table that he had just started reading.
“I’m fine if it’s tiresome.” Edward said as he sat back down on the sofa glancing over at his brother.
Even though Ashton and Lizzy continued to have these fights, many things had also changed… Ashton had became more like the person he was before the accident, he wasn’t as pessimistic as before about like and a bit less stubborn. While the two brother’s relationship with each other and with their significant others had improved in leaps and bonds as well. Nowadays the two brothers would rely more on each other, meet and talk more often like a real family would.
Ashton sat there in his wheelchair and silently read for a while, he flipped the page to the second chapter of the book he was holding.
“You’re reading something by Takano again?” Edward asked as he turned to glance at his brother.
“Yes.” Ashton closed the book while leaving his bookmark inside. Handing it over to his brother to see it. On the cover it was written: ‘If I Could Move Again Volume 2’
