#4 The Accident (Part 1)

4273 Words
Elyssa had just finished going through the plan with all of them, “Alright, we all know what our roles are in this thing.”, Elyssa asked them again just to make sure that they had understood everything she had mentioned.  “First, you and Alec need to find the flower first or what we are doing here has absolutely no point whatsoever.”, said Zac. “Just in case we might need back-up, we have some of the soldiers from my kingdom who are just one call away.” “Wait, you have soldiers living amongst humans?” Skylar was in shock. “I thought that they only stay in Coaratis, just like the people of Atlantis.” “That’s the reason why Atlanteans despise our kingdom. Because their king has been a control freak ever since the death of the queen.” Zac said, looking over at Aria. “But it is just so surprising that he let Carson stay amongst humans just to protect him. Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?” Alec had already driven off with Elyssa, heading towards Sapphire’s place. On the way to her place, they crossed paths with Cody who looked more spellbound than he was previously. It was really surprising to see that he had finally left his little love-den, but the moment they saw him they knew something was definitely up. “Is it just me, or does Cody look much more spelled than usual?”, said Alec. “I don’t know but he is definitely not himself at all. Leaving Sapphire’s place, Angelica must have changed his path. This isn’t good. We have to warn the others because he is currently a ticking bomb that is about to explode either way.” She continued to pick up the phone to start dialing Skylar’s cell.  They quickly got to Sapphire’s place to find her unconscious on the ground. “Alec, check if she’s got a pulse.”, Elyssa immediately instructed him. “I’ll call an ambulance.” She could not think of anyone who could have done this to her. The moment Alec found Sapphire’s pulse, Elyssa let out a sigh of relief. “What do we do now? We can’t just leave her like this.” Alec looked at her for an answer. “I am just as lost as you. We have no business here so we better let Skylar and Carson take the reins from here. We find the flower and get out of here. That’s our mission, remember.” “Yeah, but still we can’t just leave her here for the ambulance to take her away without anyone here to make sure that the body isn’t beat up anymore than it already is. We need to-” “-Call Skylar.”, she finished the sentence for him. “There is no way that I am going through all that drama again just to make sure that this person, who means nothing to us, remains safe.” Alec took one last glance at her before calling Skylar to explain everything so that she could hurry to the Jones’ mansion faster. After putting down the phone, Alec said to Elyssa, “She’s on her way here now with Carson. Tyler, Zac and Aria are heading to Atlantis to stall the situation.” Within minutes, Skylar arrived just before the ambulance arrived. However, the paramedics weren’t paying any attention to the fact that they had just arrived. Skylar put up an act to make them think that they were trying to find a way to put Sapphire into the car to bring her to the hospital. Skylar tried to make sure that they weren’t feeling any suspicion about how they had just arrived. She tried to pretend that she actually cared about how Sapphire had just fallen unconscious.  Just then, the paparazzis and reporters came after the paramedics brought Sapphire away. There were flashes everywhere that started surrounding the two of them from everywhere. They had nowhere out. Questions like - “Who was the one who found the body?”, “Do you have any idea what was the cause of Sapphire’s unconsciousness?” - were asked.  Skylar tried to go with the flow and attempted to answer all the questions truthfully but tried to leave Elyssa and Alec out of this. Though some of the things said were lies, she had no choice especially when Elyssa doesn’t want to be seen by the eyes of the public. After most of the paparazzis had left, Skylar let out a sigh of relief. That moment, she received a message from Alec saying that they had found the rose and were meeting them at the Frost’s mansion.  Without a moment of hesitation, they quickly got in the car and left before anymore paparazzis came after them. They got to the mansion to find that Alec had just tied Cody up. It was apparent that there was a struggle to get him tied to the chair. Skylar was surprised to see that they could even get him to settle down especially when he was so difficult to kidnap in the first place. “So how did you do it?”, Skylar immediately shot them with the question the moment Elyssa came out.  “It wasn’t that difficult especially after he had ditched that brat just to come out for a little air and the moment we saw him, we immediately got hold of him after tracking him but he was but he was much easier to defeat this time.” Elyssa stride out of the bar with a glass of martini in her hand. “It was like Angelica wanted us to kidnap him and tie him down but I still can’t lay a finger on the reason why she would make it so easy.” “Probably because she had to involve him some way in our plan but I still have a feeling that he is still Angelica’s little spy.”, said Skylar. “Guess we’ll just have to wait till he wakes up since the two of you decided on knocking him unconscious without even telling me about it.” Skylar continued to lean in to inspect his condition. “It isn’t like the two of you are dating or anything. Why do you even care about it? Plus, we don’t need anyone’s permission to knock out someone who is a threat to this family.” “I just want to knock him out myself so that he wouldn’t see it coming. - Where’s Alison anyways? I think she would want more revenge on him than I do for driving Tyler into this little mess that he had made.” “I think she should still be in school but Tyler had already sent her a really long apology so she’ll be fine. She’s a strong girl for her age. We needn’t worry about her right now because we have more depressing matters to deal with.” She continued to take out the rose from her backpack. It was still in-tact together with the addition of the casing. “You better get this back to its rightful place before Larissa’s rage is brought upon the human world.” That was when they heard the sound of the reporter on the television. “Earlier today, we saw the same vigilantes, from the night that it rained hellfire and demonic creatures were seen outside the Houston Grand Opera, found the unconscious body of the former cheerleader of Crystal Cove High, Sapphire Jones. Witnesses said that there was a boy seen fleeing the scene of where the body was left unconscious. We are still here waiting for the status of Sapphire. Steven Jones is still nowhere to be seen while his daughter still lays unconscious in the hospital.”, said the familiar reporter whom they had seen several times already while trying to save the citizens of Houston from demonic attacks for the past month.  “Come on Carson, there isn’t much time to waste any longer. Your kingdom is at war with the spiritual realm if we don’t get there fast.” Skylar said while grabbing Carson’s arm. “The two of you know what to do once he’s awake, right? - Just make sure that he stays away from Atlantis. He is still a threat as long as he tries to come along.” Skylar and Carson dove into the ocean with the rose and swam as fast as their fins could take them to the portal. The moment they swam through the portal, they realized how much has changed since they were last there, which wasn’t that long ago. “What’s happened here?”, Carson asked rhetorically. “It looks like hell has broken loose.” They quickly swam to the palace where they found the two princes who had aged much more and were apparently not even their own age anymore. “Do you have it?”, said Kai from behind them. “Do you have the flower?” Skylar handed him the rose without any hesitation. One look at it, he knew that it was fake. “It’s not the real one. The real rose would glow in the presence of the one true heir which is you my son.” “But we’ve looked everywhere and the flower is nowhere to be seen.”, Skylar protested.  “That may be true but I think I might have found the actual location of the flower. The last time someone had seen it was somewhere in the Museum of Fine Arts. The Jones must have sold it to the museum and made an exact replica of it and kept it in the mansion.” It was Tyler.  “Well off the plan B.” Carson said while looking at the wave of black spirits heading straight for them. “Skylar, I know that you were meant to be in this the moment I saw you back when we were in New York. I just needed to piece everything together. You are our last hope to get peace back.” “But-”, Skylar started but it was apparent that Carson needed to get to the museum before anything bad happened. She was pushed to the middle of the throne room by Carson. She watched as Carson swam off with some of the guards heading for the surface. She felt a mixture of fear and courage. It was her mermaid and vampire instincts reacting with each other.  The moment that Larissa had brought her army to Skylar, there was some kind of wall between the two worlds. Larissa tried to break it but Skylar was much stronger than she had thought. The moment she tried to lay a finger on Skylar, she saw the light like she was heading to Heaven or something. The light was blinding. “No this can’t be. How can this happen?” Larissa said while she was turned into ashes, it flowed through the water. “It can’t be.” was her last words before she completely turned to ash and perished into the unknown.  Skylar opened her eyes to see that Larissa along with her army were gone and slowly but surely the brothers were restored to their actual age. “You did it, Skylar.”, Aria said while swimming toward her. “You saved us all.” Just then, a jar dropped out of Clay’s lair, “Finally.”, said Clay after getting out of the magic jar. “Did I miss something?” “Where have you been Clay, we’ve been looking all over for you for a month. We thought you had gone missing.”, said Aria.  “It looks like I had missed a lot. But where is Carson? There seems to be something that I haven’t told the young prince. It’s about a prophecy that I had read while I was in the lamp.” He started picking up the pieces of the jar that had shattered. Just as he was slowly picking up all the pieces there was a blinding that appeared in front of their eyes.  Carson got to the surface but the soldiers weren’t used to being on legs so as not to slow him down any longer, one of them told him to get to the museum as fast as he could because time wasn’t on their side. The more they attempted to walk the more destruction was brought upon Atlantis.  Carson knew he was all on his own so he needed some help from Alec and Elyssa. He quickly called them and told them to meet him at the museum. Once he got to the museum, the two of them with Cody had just arrived. “Hey, what is he doing here?”, said Carson. “Apparently when I knocked him out, he wasn’t under Angelica’s influence anymore. After giving my word to Skylar that we do not keep our eyes off of him, it was obvious that we couldn’t let him be running loose in any way.”, explained Elyssa. “What are we waiting for? We have a rose to steal back from the museum.” They followed her lead and went into the museum but they were stopped immediately at the entry by the security guard. “Where do you think you are going?” Cody stepped forward to explain to the security, “We’re here on a field trip.” “This late in the evening?”, the security protested with his eyes widened.  “Forgive our friend here.”, said Alec. “What he means is that we are here on behalf of Steven Jones. Since she was brought to the hospital, he parents sent us here for the-” Alec’s eyes continued to stare at the advertisement board that said, ‘The Crystal Ball Gala’ and he continued to say, “- to attend the gala on behalf of the Jones since that they are busy trying to tend to their daughter’s needs.” “Oh I see. The dressing rooms are at the back. You will find whatever is necessary in your personal dressing rooms.” The security guard continued to let them through.  Once they were out of the security’s sight, Elyssa whispered to Alec, “Good eye. - But how are we getting out of this mess? I’m sure the security is going to expect our attendance there at the gala.” “And remember that we’re not here to party.”, Carson reminded Alec.  They continued to get to the vault where the museum owner keeps the best of all arts. With Elyssa’s hacking skills, she hacked into the server and changed the password to get into the vault. They got in and they were astonished by the arts that were so magnificent. That was when they realized that there was a man there who was apparently enchanted by the rose. He looked like he had been possessed by the siren’s song.  They quickly took the rose and hid it before he could see that they were taking the flower. “Sir are you alright? You seemed a little light headed.”, said Alec after putting the flower in the bag. Apparently the flower’s siren effect on the guy had caused him to have a short amnesia so he didn’t remember where he was or why he was there. It was difficult to hide the flower especially when Carson was with them as in his presence the flower glowed with a light that was so bright. After confronting the man, they quickly got out of the room to cast a portal to get them to Atlantis as soon as possible. Elyssa continued to get a potion from her backpack to turn Alec and herself into merpeople.  Cody and Carson jumped into the portal first followed by them. The portal formed a blinding light that almost blinded the merpeople who were in the way of the portal. Carson quickly swam towards Skylar not knowing what was going on. Before he could pass the flower to Skylar, Clay snatched it away from him.  “Sorry, Carson but I’ll be needing the flower to explain something to everyone. - I know everything must be a blur right now but all will be revealed soon.” Clay continued to pass the flower to Skylar.  Upon receiving the flower, Skylar saw a blinding light and it continued to surround her to form a bubble around her. Sparks of magic continued to magically turn her tail to a darker shade of blue. The sparks started decorating her tail and her hair. The moment the bubble opened, they were astonished to see Skylar had transformed that they paid no attention to what Clay was saying.  “Ahem!”, Clay tried to get their attention. “As I was saying, the rose has the power to turn whoever that is a half mermaid fully into a mermaid. However, whatever powers he or she possessed before will be increased. - Skylar would have to remain in Atlantis so that I can teach her how to control her powers.” “Wait what?”, Carson exclaimed. “This is absurd Clay. You can’t just keep her here in Atlantis. She doesn’t belong here. There has to be another way.” “There is but it is risky though.” “What is it? I’ll take any chance there is to see her on her feet again.” “You would have to teach her from square one how to walk again and because she is an athletic figure of the school, she may need to stay at home for a bit. And as for her powers, you would have to teach her to contain it. If she doesn’t learn to contain it, she might trigger the end of the world.” “I’ll just take my chances.”, said Carson.  “Alright but to make sure that you are not always preoccupied taking care of your girlfriend, so to reduce your workload I think it is best if Zac goes along with you to the human world so that he can also tend to his sister’s needs. He had already missed 16 years of her life so might as well make this trip worth it.” Zac swam forward, “Hey, you can’t boss me around.” “I can’t but your mom specifically said for you to go and take a trip to the human world for a little bit. She saw how Skylar’s safety was more important than anything else. This would also be a chance for you to really experience life in the human world without having Coaratis pull you back. Don’t you wanna see where your sister grew up?” Convince, Zac exclaimed, “Fine, I’ll go. But I am only going to take care of Skylar and nothing else, capisce?” With that they swam up to the surface, back to the Frost Mansion. Once at the mansion, Skylar had trouble transforming to human so Carson transformed first and carried her home. At the front door were paparazzis lining up to interview Skylar about Sapphire’s story so the guys had to deal with them while Carson brought Skylar in through the backdoor.  They quickly dealt with the paparazzis and went to help Carson out with Skylar’s situation. The moment they got in Skylar was half in transition to become a human. They had to prepare a tub of salt water so that she could feel less pain. “How are you feeling?” Cody was worried about Skylar’s condition, especially how Clay had emphasized on how Skylar’s life had to be completely changed after this. He was still staring mindlessly at how everyone was helping Skylar. He could help but blame himself for getting involved in Angelica’s little shenanigans that almost caused the end of the world. Of course there wasn’t a way to stop it because whatever curse that Angelica starts can never be held back or vanquished.  “She just went through a transition but she’ll survive if you just stand back and mind your own business.”, said Zac. There was fury in his voice.  “Do you have something against me being in the same room as her?”, Cody protested. Zac shook his head in annoyance and turned back to help Carson with Skylar. “Don’t you dare turn your back on me, Zac. You had had it out for me from the start. - Why?” “She wouldn’t be in this situation if she wasn’t tangled up in your family drama. She would have had a normal life if she hadn’t met you. You are the reason why her life is so messed up right now. So Cody I ask you why do you think I have something against you? You literally made her life a complete mess and despite knowing that she’s your sister, you still dated her. You have no sense of responsibility - giving up the throne to Hell was one thing but you literally left all your responsibilities to your cousin.” Cody felt as though what Zac said was true but he still protested. “You can’t pin all this on me. And for the record I wasn’t myself when Skylar needed me. It wasn’t even my fault that my family was cursed by Angelica.” “Pinning all the fault on other people as usual. Did your family not tell you anything or are you just clueless about it. - Lucifer hand picked you, the son of Carlos Frost. The most deceiving of all his descendants to be the heir to the throne of Hell. - But nonetheless, you turned down the throne so that you can have an ordinary life. As usual caring about no one but yourself. You turned your back on your kind just to chase after whatever you truly desire. Did you really think that everyone will be attracted to your charms forever?”  “Alright you two.”, Elyssa intervened. “Back down or you’ll just stress Skylar out more and remember what Clay said that Skylar needs time to learn to control her new powers. I’m sure that the two of you wouldn’t want to stress your poor little sister out.” She continued to chain her arm to Cody’s to bring him out for a little fresh air.  Once Cody was outside with Elyssa, he continued to argue. “What’s his deal? After he finds out he’s related to her then only does he start becoming this overprotective person who cares about nothing but her well-being.” Elyssa let out a sigh before saying, “How would you feel if you found out that you had a long lost sibling that your parents never told you about? Try to put yourself in his shoes. He had just found out that his father had actually been hiding in the human world for the past 16 years, raising a sister that he didn’t even know he had.” She sat down on the chair by the pool.  Cody sat down beside her. “I can’t disagree with him anyways. He’s right about some of the things. But honestly I do want to be there for her, especially in these times.” “Just give him time. I know that being related to someone who thinks and behaves just the same as you is difficult but there are times that you would need to have tolerance.” Elyssa continued to give him a pat on the back.  Just then, Alec came out to tell Elyssa that someone was looking for her at the door. At first she thought who it could be but she still went out, leaving Alec and Cody to talk. She marched up to the door and the person whom she would never have thought she’d ever see again standing right in front of her. “Damon?”, she gasped in a questionable tone. “In the flesh.”, the boy said before continuing. “May I come in?” Before she could even reply he just went in.
