#4 The Accident (Part 3)

“What do you mean she’s stuck that way ‘for now’? Isn’t there a way you could bring her back?” Nick exclaimed at Lucifer. Despite being his great grandfather, Lucifer had been more of a friend to his descendants. “Isn’t there some way we can get her back?” He continued to look over at Gracie whose body had been placed in a glass coffin to temporarily sustain the body’s condition. “It is unlikely because most of her organs had been through internal bleeding and in addition with all the spiritual pain she’s been through, the only person who can stop this suffering is Angelica herself. She has to finish all the unfinished business she has in the human realm to be set free - which includes torturing your brother’s ex-girlfriend for having her killed in the first place.” “Wait, I thought I was an only child. How did I not know all this?” Nick looked at Lucifer with anger plastered all over his face. “Your mother specifically asked all of us to keep it a secret from you until you are 21 but I guess the cat is out of the bag. Angelica had had an affair with someone else - I don’t really know the specifics - But that was quite a while after you were born because your father was torturing you, she did what all mothers would do if their child’s father was so abusive. She kept the pregnancy a secret from a lot of people but once I found out I swore to not tell you. She kept Noah’s birth and everything else a secret from the whole demon realm. But she did it to protect you from knowing the truth.” “The truth huh? Then why tell me this at all. There is no purpose in hiding it, especially when you had known all along that I had a brother - A brother! - Living in the human world all along.” Nick walked out of the room to get more fresh air. He needed extra room to breathe. But before leaving the room he turned back, “Does he know anything about me?” to which Lucifer shook his head regrettably. Nick didn’t know what to do or say, so he turned around and headed out the door without another word. That was when his phone began to ring. He was reluctant to pick it up but he still did. He looked at the caller ID and rolled his eyes. “This better be important!” Nick exclaimed into the phone.  “Someone’s in a mood.”, said Elyssa through the phone. “I think I have found a solution to all our problems, right now. - Tyler and Alison are working on extracting the required ingredients to a rare healing potion that had been carefully curated by my brother who showed up out of nowhere just to find Skylar. Now, we have a theory that Damon might be working with your mom but it is just a theory for now-” Before Elyssa could say anything else, the call had already been cut off, Nick thought to himself for a bit and after flashing back to the events of the previous day, he knew exactly where to go to find Damon and reason with him. Because Damon was usually very good at deceiving people and demons alike, he could just so easily find a job in the human world.  He got in the black Lamborghini Huracán Coupé which he had borrowed from the Frost’s Mansion and headed straight to the one place that a demon would enjoy going to.  “Strange. Really strange.” Tyler said while backing away from the microscope. “There is a trace of Deadly Nightshade which usually in normal scenarios would slowly seep through the skin and affect the involuntary muscles such as the heart. In this case, Damon found a way to reverse the effect of the species, bringing a temporary cure to the extreme pain all over the body.” “The real question is where did he find it? It is only found in Europe, North Africa and Western Asia. Unless Damon had a way of portaling to different parts of the world just to gather rare ingredients.”, said Alison.  “And I wonder how you even know all that?” Tyler looked over at her for an answer. But she couldn’t even stare him in the eye. “What is up with you? You seemed a little out of focus. You can tell me.” “It’s nothing, Tyler. I’m just feeling a little light headed.” The moment she said that he immediately knew that it wasn’t her but instead an imposter trying to impersonate her. However, he didn’t try to get it out of her immediately. He had a feeling that Alison had not been herself.  “You sure you're feeling alright?” Tyler tried to temper her to see if the demon who was in possession of her body would show herself or himself. “You seem a little off today.” “I’m fine! There is nothing wrong!” Alison exclaimed. “I mean, why would there be something wrong? You needn’t worry about me. Can we just get back to work? We need to find out what other chemicals Damon had put into this elixir.” She continued to turn around to head back to work. But Tyler grabbed her by her shoulder. However, she flung his hand away with strength that he had never seen before. “Paws off, Tyler!” He could see the fury in her eyes but the demon was still resisting to let her go. That was when he knew which demon spirit was possessing her body. “Angelica?”, he said under his breath. He was about to attack her when she stopped him.  “Attack and I’ll end her just like what I’ve done with Gracie.”, said Alison.  Tyler didn’t have a choice but to stand down. Angelica had anchestrial powers that he had no power over. “Leave Alison out of this, Angelica. She is innocent in all this.” “Aww. It’s a real pity to let this pile of flesh come to a waste - Alright, I’ll spare her on one condition. You don’t tell anyone about me being here, especially your cousin. If any word gets out that I was here, you can kiss your little girlfriend goodbye.” Tyler nodded reluctantly and Angelica left Alison’s body causing her to fall. But Tyler caught her before her body hit the ground. He tried saying something to her but apparently there was definitely something wrong. “Alison! Come on, don't leave me.” Then he reached for the syringe sitting on the table with some of the mutated mutagen. Before he could do anything, he felt her moving so he froze and watched as her eyelids fluttered. Once they were wide open, she was in shock, “Where am I? Who are you?” She couldn’t remember anything that had happened. “What is that?”, she was eyeing the syringe in Tyler’s hand. She was about to transform and get away.  “Alison, stop. You have lost your memories but I am here to help you. I’m not going to hurt you.” He placed the syringe back on the table. “Look, I’m your boyfriend, Tyler and you are in my lab. We were running some tests, just like we usually do but an evil witch had taken your memories, that's why you can’t remember who I am or where you are.” She tried to calm herself. There was one part of her that wanted to trust him but the other was in denial of whether what he was saying was true or false. “How do I know if you are telling the truth?” She backed away from him. He thought of the time they met which was a similar scenario. “Remember, I’m just like you.”, he continued to show the powers he possessed. Out of his hand, out of thin air was a ball of light. “You needn’t fear if I’m lying to you or not because you and I are the same, you can trust me.” As she saw the bright blue light on Tyler’s palm, it started to jog her memory a little but it was apparently not enough to make her remember every detail of their relationship. However, that was a start.  Skylar swam towards the end of the trench with Cody and Carson guarding her from either side. “I feel a vast amount of magic used in this rock. But it is rock solid, there can’t be anything inside, can it?” Zac was in the lead. Though there wasn’t really a need for all of them to come along, they didn’t have anything else to do and wanted to make sure that Skylar got back to the human world in one piece.  “I think it might be an illusion or a secret door that you obviously can’t see.” Cody continued to find something that could open the door made of stone. There was one stone that was particularly out of place that could be a button to opening the door. He pushed the button and the door opened to let them enter. “Voila.” “Don’t get too over yourself. Remember we still have a mission. - Just follow my lead.” Zac swam forward into the room that was coated in algae plastered all over the stone walls. Cody rolled his eyes as Zac made his dramatic entrance. “We are looking for Dylon. We are here on behalf of Damon to collect some rare ingredients.” He was facing the backside of a throne like a stone.  “Did you bring the mermaid as he had said in the deal?”, came a booming voice.  “Yes. But why do you need her? He didn’t mention anything about a trait.”, said Zac.  “No, the only thing I will acquire from her are my powers. She is the lighthouse of all power in the sea. - Elemental powers, which she would soon find hard to control. When you have more, it is never good.” “But what do you want her powers for?” Zac protested. “All will be revealed soon but for now surrender one of your numerous powers and I’ll hand over the ingredients you need for her to turn human with less pain to bear.” Dylon let out his hand like he was waiting for her to just hand it over in a ball of light of some sort.  “But I don’t know how to even use the powers that were given to me so how am I supposed to just hand it over.” Skylar swam forward to protest.  “You are just as clueless as all the newbies. Did that sorcerer not mention anything to you when he gave you Larissa’s crystal rose? You are a demi-goddess, Skylar. You just have to sort things out. Just think of any of the elements - Fire? Water? Wind? Earth? - Anything you are sure that you can’t control and just let it out.” As Dylon was explaining, Skylar realized how he looked so familiar, like she had seen him before somewhere. “Do I know you from somewhere?” She just couldn’t remember where she had seen him before.  “No, I obviously haven’t seen anyone quite like you before. Courageous. Willing to stand up for what’s right. Living life the way people want you to, despite knowing it is not what you want. - I think the last time I did see someone like you was when I was in Atlantis but that was a long time ago.” “How long exactly?” Carson intervened.  “Well if it isn’t the prodigal son himself, the lost prince who finally decided to pay daddy a little visit after finding out the secret of the one person who he was deeply in love with. - I would tell you but you would just run right back to your father just to tell him about me dealing illegal stuff to warlocks and demons alike.” “Dad and I aren’t really on speaking terms at the moment so you needn’t worry about me letting the cat out of the bag.” Carson put his arms around Skylar so that Dylon would stop trying to flirt with her.  “Alright. First my power, then I’ll give you what you require.” Dylon stretched out his hand to receive the power.  “Just so we’re clear you do not require any form of insurance, do you? Because if something were to go wrong, I am not counted responsible for anything.”, said Skylar. She attempted to release one of her so-called powers.  Dylon felt the power that was transferred from Skylar, starting to sip in. He felt the feeling of being reborn. He looked up as the overwhelming powers started to make him feel like his life was slowly ending. But once the pain was gone, he looked back at them, “A deal’s a deal. Here are the things Damon requires.” He continued to get the jar of some slimy yellow stuff and some other things including cat eyes and snake venom. “Are you sure this is everything?”, said Zac. Skylar was looking into the jar wondering what the things were and how it was required to help her transform without having to go through all that pain. “I wouldn’t ask ‘What is that?’ if I were you.” Zac said to Skylar because he knew of her curiosity which was apparently as out of control as Zara’s. “Farewell for now. Until we meet again.” Dylon had this glint in his eye as they left. The moment the secret door closed behind them, Zac felt the aura of even worse magic - Dark magic - but it wasn’t up to them to just handle this sort of situation by themself. “Come on, let’s go and get your legs back, Skylar.” Zac led the way to Damon’s lair  which was located at the far south of Georgia. Once they were at the surface, they knew that Skylar couldn’t transform. Though she insisted that they just went without her they were hell bent on wanting to make sure that she makes it back to the human world so Carson offered to stay back to protect her and keep her company.  As Zac didn’t have a driver’s license, he needed to bring Cody with him. With an addition of being an ex-racer, Cody could get them to Damon’s place at just the nick of time. So they quickly got in the car and sped off. “Can you drive any faster? I thought you were a racer in the past.” Zac complaint.  “I am not risking another speeding ticket just because you want to get Skylar’s legs back fast and plus there is no other faster route to Savannah. Any other route would just be clogged with cars.” As they drove through the rain, arguing - overtaking cars after cars, they overtook on the wrong part and their car slipped off the road. All they could hear was crashes as they ran off the road onto a hilly slope with a lot of trees.
