"Sorry, Alex. I didn't mean it, but I have to admit, it was pretty fun! If you want to work things out, let's meet up in L.A. next week."
Wait... I need a sec to process this.
So it was really her all along?
"Are you seriously gonna meet up with her?" Emily asks, giving me a skeptical look that makes me furrow my brows in deep thought.
I mean, how can I be sure it was really Lara? I just can't wrap my head around the idea that she's involved.
"I don't know. It just doesn't fit the puzzle."
Our attention is drawn to my phone as it chirps with another message.
It's Lara again.
Emily nudges me with her shoulder, urging me to read the message. I slowly pick up my phone and open it, leaning in for her to read too.
"I changed my mind, Alex. Can we meet tomorrow instead?
