Chapter 18 The rusted old flatbed truck they’d purchased in Cancun threw up a cloud of dust and dark exhaust fumes as it rolled down the dirt road from the hills down the city of Mérida in Mexico. In the valley below, the large city came into view, full of old colonial buildings framing streets laid out in a grid pattern. The tropical storm had dissipated days ago and since landing in Cancun the sun had beat down ferociously from a cloudless blue sky, making the drive into the Mexican interior long, hot and tiring. The truck had been cheap, really uncomfortable but cheap. 180 miles further on, Quinn wished they had shopped around and spent a little more on something more comfortable.
