"He really said that?" My voice is skeptical just as how surprised I am.
"And he promised."
"Okay?"
She laughs, "You sound unconvinced. Have no worries. I'll whack him on the head if he disturbs you again."
Lewis treats me so poorly that the word "disturb" doesn't even come close to describing it. I've learned a lot of crude vocabulary and phrases from him that I plan to modify when I include them in my writing. Thanks to my brother, my English cursing vocabulary has expanded, and I am frequently subjected to his rough handling, although he has never laid a hand on me. Whenever I stand up to him, he pokes me as if scolding a younger sibling.
