Chapter Two: Meeting The Demon King

1923 Words
I was escorted to a beautiful room in a giant castle. I was scared of what would come next. I didn’t have any things, not even one bag but it seemed like the room came with everything I would need. I looked up at the knock on the door and then a woman walked in. She was in a suit, she looked really professional. “The King would like to meet you now.” I walked to the door and was led by her to his office. I walked in alone and there he was.“Hello.” I said but he didn’t say anything or acknowledge me. He gave off this crazy dominant aura. “Why did you buy me?” I swallowed nervously. He looked up and I finally got to see what he looked like. He had long black hair that stopped at his shoulder, purple eyes, freckles, and a full beard. He had a masculine athletic build. Even though he was sitting I could tell he was very tall. He was also pale gray with big dominant horns and fangs. “I won’t allow you to question me often. “ His voice was deep. “I bought you for my son.” He said and looked back down at the paperwork on his desk.  I frowned. “But why me? I’m human and most demons despise humans.” I didn’t want to be the wife of any demon. He nodded and continued signing paperwork. “A psychic human.” He corrected. “They are a rarity and anyone of my descent deserves someone rare. You were rejected, is that correct? Just nod or shake your head no.” He instructed so I nodded. “That demon was probably not aware of your ability or worth.”  “Worth…?” He looked annoyed and put his pen down. He looked me in the eyes which were super intimidating. “You are not only unique in your ability but your appearance as well.” I’ve never been complimented on my looks before. “Humans also make for wonderful lovers.” I blushed but I don’t know why, it surprised me that this kind of demon used the word lovers instead of something more graphic…“You will bare his demon child eventually and they might inherit your psychic ability, a psychic demon is the most powerful demon.” He explained. “We‘re going to make sure our family line continues to grow stronger with every generation.”  “When do I meet him?” I asked. “He returns in a month.” He answered. “Now leave, if you need anything the phone in your room has a direct line to our head servant.” I nodded and left to my room. It was weird, I didn’t feel like I was being kept against my will. This place felt more like home than my actual home. Hours went on and I was bored, that was the one drawback so far and I expected more to come. I picked up the phone and a woman answered. “Hello? Princess Red? What can I do for you.” Hearing someone calling me princesses was something I probably wouldn’t get used to soon. “I’m bored… is there anything you can do about that?” I asked. “Are you in need of companionship? I can send you a companion.”  It didn’t sound right, she couldn’t send someone and expect us to just be friends, that’s not how it works. “S-sure. Someone my age preferably…” I wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity though. “Will do miss.”  I looked around my room until I heard a knock at my door. I opened it and there was a young woman. She had light blue skin and horns, other than that she looked almost human. “Hello, I’m who they sent to keep you company, can I come in?” I nodded and let her in but I had killer social anxiety so I wasn’t sure how to say anything to her. “...” I closed the door behind her. She bowed to me then sat down on a chair. “It’s an honor to meet you. I’m Gwen. My father works for the king as his head knight.”  “Hi, Gwen.” I cleared my throat because my voice cracked. “I’m Red. The King bought me…” I chuckled nervously. Gwen laughed. “Well, I know that. I wish I was worth seven billion Mecrons.” She chuckled. “Did you grow up here? In the demon realm?” I shook my head. “Wow there’s so much I need to show you then. If you ask I’m sure they’ll grant you permission to leave with me.” “Leave?” I know I said I didn’t feel like a prisoner but at the same time, I didn’t think I’d be able to leave. My own father wouldn’t let me leave and he didn’t pay seven billion Mecrons for me as the Demon King did. “Oh my god, you don’t think you have any freedom?” She laughed. “You were bought to be a wife and future queen, not a slave.” Tears welled up in my eyes And I guess it was from happiness. “I need to be alone now but can I have your number?” I was glad I met Gwen, she seemed genuine.  Gwen nodded fast and wrote it down on a sheet of paper. “Message me whenever. I’ll help you settle in before your fiancé comes back.”  She said and left.  I wiped my face clean and got in my bigger than king-sized bed that was full of pillows and stuffed animals. “Maybe this is what they thought human girls like…” I needed to pull myself together. I fell asleep and had a terrible nightmare that made me jump out of my bed when I woke up. I stormed out of my room crying. I needed fresh air so I ran down the hall and opened the door to the balcony and there he was. The King was leaning against the railing staring up at the stars. He turned to me who was in a nightgown and sobbing. “Speak.” He ordered. My heart was racing. “Just a nightmare… I wanted to get some air but I’ll go back.” I turned around.  “No. Stay.” He protested, he seemed lonely. I breathed in the fresh air and turned back around slowly. “Okay…”  There was a long pause when neither of us spoke then he broke the silence. “You met Gwen today? Is she someone you feel like could be your lady-in-waiting or someone you can just confide in?” He asked. I walked to their railing and leaned toward it against my arms. “Um…” I shrugged, it was hard for me to get any words out.  “Here.” He offering me his tea. “It’ll calm you down.” I hesitantly took it and drank from it. The taste was foreign but amazing. “Wow.” “You’ll only receive the best of anything here.” He looked up.  I handed him his tea back. “I don’t like sleeping alone… I never have had to until tonight. I have seven sisters and have always shared a room with one of them.” “When my son comes back you won’t have to sleep alone.” He assured me. I nodded. “Am I allowed to roam the castle?” I looked out at the view, I could see the entire capital from way up here. There were so many lights and buildings. He nodded. “Of course.” He stood up. “I’m going to take my leave, have a good night princess.” He left but I didn’t want him to. I sat down at the table and laid my head on it.  I soon fell asleep and has no nightmares. I woke up in my bed. There was a note on my nightstand. “You could have caught a cold, humans are fragile, please think more about your actions.” Signed The Demon King. I didn’t even know his name yet.  I got ready for the day and talked myself into exploring the castle. I started by roaming the hallways and looking at the portraits. I passed a lot of servants and guards as I looked at everything. I saw a photo of the Demon King, a woman, and his son but here his son was much younger. I guess the woman in the picture was the queen. I couldn’t wait to meet her, I just hoped she was nice. “The King is going to freak out.” I overheard one of the servants say. “Someone’s going to die.” “How were we supposed to prevent this? We tried as hard as possible.” They spoke in fear of him but I didn’t find him scary, not in the least. The head servant approached me. “The King expects you to meet him in the dining hall for breakfast.” I nodded and followed her into the dining hall.  I sat down across from the King. “It’s just us two? Where’s your wife? I was looking forward to meeting her…” I mumbled the last part. “Just us two until my son returns.” He replied somberly.  “Does your son know you bought me for him?” I asked as a plate of food was placed in front of both of us. “No. You’re a surprise.” He said then turned to a servant that approached him and she whispered something to him I couldn’t hear. He looked mad now. “How could you be so incompetent.” He said coldly and I could see why they feared him. The servant kneeled down to his knees submissively. “I’m sorry dark lord.” He shook in fear. “It’s my fault, I will take full responsibility.  “Full responsibility is death.” I stood up. “You can’t do that! I don’t know what he did but you can kill him fo-“ The King looked over at me with a dominant glare. “Red. Stand down.” He ordered. “This isn’t of your concern.” This was the first time he spoke to me so coldly.  Tears welled up. “Fine.” I left without eating. I walked through the hall with my heart racing. I didn’t like the way he was treating them, earlier in the hall they said it wasn’t something they could prevent. Just what kind of royal family was I bought into?
