Cody’s parents came early the following morning, with magazines, clothes, and a portable DVD player with Random Reasoning for him to pass the time.
“Wow, all this is great,” Cody said, glancing over his new goodies. “But I’m wondering, why didn’t you guys tell me about all the murdered people?”
His mom and dad’s pleasant expressions dropped.
“Oh, honey, how’d you find out?” his mom asked.
“What do you know exactly?” his dad asked.
“Everyone on the road is dead. I, uh, overheard two nurses in the hallway.” Cody considered telling his parents about Lin and Caleb, but thought better of it.
