Chapter 4 Cody’s eyes darted open. Disoriented, he tried to figure out where he was. He felt gravel under his body and a sweaty stickiness. He clenched his eyes tight, and then opened them wide. The night sky loomed far overhead. He stretched out like a cat, cracking his back. This isn’t my room. Hadn’t he gone to sleep in his bed? He pushed himself up to his feet and realized with horror that he stood naked in the middle of the street outside his house. Heart pounding, Cody ran out of the road. He looked around, imagining a car coming along and smashing into him. Unconsciously, he covered his privates with his hands and dashed across the lawn to his front door.
