George crept over the grass toward the camp closest to the creek. They had a couple of pop-up tents, the kind they used to sell cheaply at WalMart. George was afraid maybe the two men had already retired for the night, but as he drew closer, he noticed that there was still one man sitting by the fire, poking at the dying embers. Daniel looked up at him and smiled. "I was hoping you would wander over here," he said, patting the ground beside him as an invitation.
