Chapter Forty-One
The exact biological process by which the survivors of the plague became albinos is unknown. The ways and means to study the genetic mutations that seem to have occured were lost in the Dark Hour. The woman Rebecca is believed to be the first to survive the disease, but how and why she became the leader of the Colony is much debated.
